Anyone Ever Buy Two Cars at Once?

So we buy a car, and we're picking it up and speculating about when we might buy a second one. The salesman says your best opportunity is to finance a second purchase in the next 45 days before prospective lenders know about your first purchase. 'Course, he just wants to sell another car, but it's an interesting idea.

My folks bought two in the space of three months. Their lenders were well aware and it made no difference. Of course, their credit score is about 1000.

A friend of mine did this once and for some reason the very next morning leaving for work(I suppose forgetting where he parked the second one or not being used to having the other one) he ran one into the other.

Didn't even have them 20 hours.

Seems like buying 2 cars at the same time would give you an advantage when negotiating but since you already bought the one car I guess that won't make a difference.

car dealerships don't throw in two free cars plus two sets of wheels and two fold down tvs like Jos. a bank would?

My boss did in 2008. He bought himself a Ford F150 and his wife a Mustang. Said he didn't get any great deal and would never do it again.

I would think that would be somewhat common with the wife wanting to be in control too.

What the hell is that salesman talking about. The only thing I can remotely think of that would have any negative affect on someone would be if you ran your credit through 8 different lenders. Lenders look at inquires also but if you already bought it, it will have the same affect. You debt to income is another factor and that will be the same if you bought now or in 3 months.

they are referring to buying another before the first shows up on your report, therefore it looks like you have less debt

I bought a Bimmer, Mercedes and an Audi this morning. I'm going to drive them all for a month, then sell the two I don't like.

Dealer told me he had never done it before. We did it mainly because if there was an accident it would not be both of us on the same bike. Once she learned to ride it was a different story.

I got a Mazda 3s GT for finishing my first year of college with a 4.0. When we were at Hollingsworth-Richards, my dad saw a F150 he liked. Paid cash for both.

My Dad = OT Baller.
I = Still broke arse college student.
