Eddie Lacy 2009
Eric Reid 2010
Landon Collins 2012
Shelby Christy 2013

I know some of these guys are Katrina transplants but that's an impressive few years. Does anyone think their high coaching staff has a strong voice in where they go. My thought was that Reid was always going to be a tiger because of his parents. But Lacy and Collins both ending up at Bama makes me wonder. Everybody has their reasons and ultimately I would have liked to see all 3 in purple and gold but we will be fine.
I don't know much about Christy but if he's as good as the last 3 and we lose him to Bama then that would be troublesome because this school seems to producing some talent and I want to keep it here. Thoughts?

We need to do a better job at locking down Louisiana but you're not going to get everyone. We pull some great talent from other states; just the way it is. I'm very happy with who we got on and sure Collins and even lacy would have been nice but some things are and will always be beyond control. The boys who make the decision to come to LSU are the people I'm worried about when it's all said and done.

The recruiting aspect is fun to follow but it can be very misleading. As much a i wanted seastrunk, what would he be doing? Another shep-type transplant to WR? The real work is getting them to LSU status when they get here.

Lacy was a miraculous qualifier.......Bama just stuck with him.

Here's an article with Les trying to lock down the Dutchtown talent. No doubt schmoozing the mom that controls her son's heart. :winkwink:

Don't forget about this dude in 2009. USC pulled his scholly after he messed his knee up at the end of this last season.
He is a stud.

Mainly because it would mean that Saban has an office at DHS, much like Bobby Bowden had at Catholic High back in the 90s.

It's amazing that the Dutchtown Crimson Tide haven't been able to make a more serious run at the Dome with all the talent that has come through there in the past 5 years. It's scary.

i think it is now going to be a problem at this school of keeping everybody. These kids have played together and some kids have more influence than others. I do think we missed out on Lacy and that kind of opened the door for the bama staff to make relationships. You can't get them all, but i thought we should have went after Lacy harder. I bet things would be different had we done so. Landon Collins is gone and we need to learn from this and move on.

This theory that we need to lock down LA is really ridiculous. We do have LA locked down. Very rarely does a school get every kid they offer instate. We did in 2008 but that is the exception not the rule. We lose Collins and all of a sudden we can't keep the kids instate. We've offered 18 kids instate this year and 15 of them will be at LSU. Collins is a miss and clearly the gem,Devall is a guy that just didn't want to play the position we wanted him at and Bourque basically was told to find somewhere else to play. And this is a bad year for us in LA percentage wise. We usually get over 90% of the kids we offer instate. Who else does that well? Ohio St is the only other school close aside from Texas who are the exception to these rules.

Who have we lost that has mattered in the past few years?

Sentimore- now at his 2nd different school and yet to really impact. We are also pretty stacked at DT

Reed-can't stay healthy and really has done nothing. Would he play significantly at LSU? Can't say he would, can't say he wouldn't

Benton-has done nothing. Barely sees the field. Randle is better

McKnight-good college player no doubt but had injury issues and was a problem kid at USC. Did we really miss him?

Luther Davis-decent depth guy at Bama but not a factor. We pulled his offer anyway. Again we are stacked at DT

Robinson-yet to be seen how he will pan out but we are loaded on the OL and he would just be battling with those guys if at LSU. Could be great but we won't miss him

Sylve-yet to be seen but would he really change anything if at LSU? Beckham and Landry are better wrs and he wouldn't be a factor at cb at LSU. Our guys are better at cb. I personally like Sylve and his talent but he wasn't a huge miss.

We'll see on Collins and Devall and both are talented but we'll survive as we always have. We have a ton of talented LBs coming in and I like Hunter and Davis better as DEs. Collins seems to be the only miss in terms of his talent and the fact that we don't really have anyone coming in that is on his level but we'll see how that works out.

LSU wanted him at fullback he didn't want to play that position.

I have seen Shelby Christy play three times and he is good but not LSU material.

I was thinking the same thing. I know it's a relatively new school but the only high schools that produce that talent consistently usually sniffs the dome regularly. (university of west monroe, john curtis u, etc). I think the best they have done is reach the quarterfinals twice which isn't horrible I just thought they would go a little further.
