...is he really that good of a safety?

Look at his film and take away all of the offensive highlights, do you really see a GREAT safety if you did not know who he was? Would he be the player who stands out to you?

Of course in college they teach the position to him, but he sure was electric WITH the ball way more than he looked on defense.

Just not sold on his abilities to start as a safety in the SEC for a couple of years.

Just remember how cerebral you must be at safety in this league.

I have no idea if he is gonna come in and dominate as a freshman/sophomore, but I do know this...

He's an elite athlete.

Since Lord Saban arrived at LSU, and this has continued with Les, athletes on the field at all times has proven to be the way to go.

Is Tyrann Mathieu that great of a CB? No. But he's a helluva athlete. And athletes make plays.

No butthurt, I figured him gone a month ago..

Did you seriously see an elite safety on his films? Or were you just hypnotized by his offense and freakish running ability?

I agree to some extent. He is a beast of an athlete, man amongst boys. But as for a safety he has minimal action and tackles.

Initially burns wanted him at RB. He will get his shot as safety which may be his natural position and this is what he wants. Physically he is ready right now for the sec. How good he is in coverage will be fun to watch.

Either way I really don't care. Best of luck to him

He's not a great safety but it's the raw athleticism that you take. He can be taught to play S and Saban is great at that. He's better coaching and teaching S than cbs. That's what gets overlooked by people when they talk about his db coach skills. His scheme is predicated on S not cb. Go take a look at his history at LSU and Bama. It's the S that were great not the cbs. The great cover cb is a plus for his system and every coach wants them but his S define his coverage schemes.

LC is a baller. I still hope we land him. He made all state on both sides of the ball. That's insane.

It is! But why on defense? WHat did he do at safety to be named all state? THere were probably 10 safeties with better stats.

Lol I highly doubt this thread would exist if LC chose LSU. Whatever makes you sleep better at night bud. The threads get more pathetic by the day.

BUT whatever he lacks Saban will give him.

If Saban can put a walkon safety (Rashaad Johnson) in the NFL just think what he can do with Landon.

I'm getting the biggest kick out of the LSU meltdown over the LC decision. You guys are the biggest babies.

He's a special kid, and he seems to have his head on straight making his own decision.

He'll be an all sec player if he works hard.

I eagerly await your return to this board Tuesday morning after you get your comeuppance.

My bet is, if you lose, you won't have the sack to show your face around here.

First of all, it's semantics, but I said great, and you say very good.

But yes, he is a very good CB...for his size, especially. But when it comes his time in the draft, he will not be the first CB taken. He's not an elite CB.

He IS, however, an elite football player, an elite playmaker, an elite athlete. That was my point. LC may or may not be an elite SAFETY, but he is most certainly an elite athlete, and a take for anybody. To suggest otherwise IS to display butt hurtedness.

Chad Jones had more physical abilities than LC but was only drafted in the 3rd.

How much you want to put on it? I am a Bama fan first but a big time CFB fan second. If LSU beats what I think is Saban's best team ever I will certainly drop by enough to offer congratulations. Its going to be special either way and I won't hold any contempt. I like LSU fans in general. You're a lot of fun, most of you seem intelligent, and relatively respective of reasonable points of view. If we lose Saban will go back to the drawing board and create an even better team. LSU will become our UF09' team.

HB7 is a great player but he's not your best defensive player. That would be Morris Claiborne. HB7 didn't do much in our game. Had like 4 tackles and none of the other stuff he's known for. This game is a little too much for him. He's a little guy in a big man's world. I bet Trent runs him over again and he might get hurt this time. I'd take him off the defense and just let him faircatch your punts.
