saw this on SR. This dude has many pairs of lion blue sunglasses.

I wanna see his descrip of these players after they take back to back lashings from Matty Ice (the real one in GB) and Brees.

quote:

First off, Lions fan here. I'm not a troll by any means....just looking to talk some football. I think the Saints are currently the better team (more experienced...can't wait to see how Stafford plays when he's 30 and has 7 more years of experience), but don't think this young team can't make a game out of this. They have some extremely talented players and a bunch of good ones that can hang with anyone...and they have no fear of playing on the road or playing from behind.

Anyway, what I wanted to mention is who was out for the Lions the last time we were in NO. I keep seeing it mentioned how Suh was out for that game in this forum and in the national media. But nobody is saying anything about the rest of the missing for Detroit. So here it is...in case you didn't know:

Suh - DT: One of the best DTs in the game. Don't look too much into his 'sophomore slump'....he's still a beast.

Durant - LB: Arguably our best LB....he's a thumper and has been great against the run on top of solid in coverage. Was dealing with a concussion last game.

Houston - CB: BY FAR our best CB. He's slowly been getting back to form. Still not there, but hasn't had any setbacks the last 2 weeks.

Delmas - S: One of the best safeties in the NFC. Our D has been getting gashed too often since he went out. He's the piece that really keeps the D together against the pass and run.

LoJack - DE: Many of us Lions fans think he's every bit as good as KVB right now. He usually splits snaps with KVB. Him being out didn't just affect him, it also made KVB play too many snaps and affected his play as well. He had a deep thigh bruise that's fine now.

Fairley - DT: Definitely made his presence felt in the 1st QTR before missing the final 3. Him and Suh being out also caused an injured Corey Williams to play too much....he sat out last week and should be good to go.

Berry - CB: He's our 3rd CB who was playing great when he went down in the 2nd qtr in NO. Him being out REALLY hurts our nickel. He takes over on the outside and Wright has been great inside in the nickel....which we've been missing since then. Sounds like his shoulder is good to go.

That is a lot of serious talent we were playing without on the defensive side of the ball. And we were still able to get a LOT more stops than I imagined in that game being that depleted. On offense, Kevin Smith had a great 1st quarter and a half against you before retweaking his ankle he hurt on Thanksgiving. He's our best receiver and blocker at RB on top of being a very solid runner...and he's healthy as he's been since his injury right now.

So don't put too much stock into the first game. We without 7 major pieces of our D for most of it...including our best DL, LB, CB and S.

And the Lions played the dumbest game in a long time (it wasn't the loud crowd that caused 3 OPIs and 3 after the whistle PFs) leaving plenty of points out there....but had the ball across midfield going for the tie late in the 4th qtr.

So just letting you know what we were missing. If I had to put money on this one, I'm obviously betting on black. But I'm expecting these kids in the silver and blue to give you one helluva game. Their D isn't as bad as they played in GB (look at what they did to SD the previous week), they can get some stops and turnovers, and the O is on fire. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

all I gotta say is that if Chris Houston is your best cb, be prepared for a long game. Brees is not a stranger to burning Chris Houston.

I have to admit he does pimp these guys by comparison to who else they have.

In which case every starter is gonna sound like a beast obviously.

the kevin smith line definitely got a chuckle outta me.

Suh - DT:

Only thing I'm worried about him doing is stomping on Drew Brees if he accidentally falls down.
