Spin off of Chicken's Saban to Texas What if thread.

Mile is guaranteed $1,000 more then the highest paid SEC Coach if he wins correct?

if that is true and he currently makes $3,750,000 and Saban makes $6,100,000, LSU is really going to up him $2,350,000?

Also, is this a one year deal or does he get that for the remainder of his contract? And, does it affect his buy out at all? (not that I want him gone, I love the dude, no homo)

Saban makes approximately $4.7 MM in total compensation, according to a recent article in the NY Times.

I thought Mack was the highest paid coach at 5 mill. Saban's is around 4.5 the last I heard.

The question stands...

Can LSU afford to pay Les over 5 million/yr ?

This is correct then Bob stoops at like 4.2 then miles at 3.75. I saw the list recently. It had 6 teams from the SEC in the Top ten. The highest paid coach from all college sports isnt even in Football. Can someone name him?

I believe Les is only going to get a bonus and not an actual raise. Something like $500,000 dollars.

Does his new re-worked contract still have this clause?

Apparently to some article that was circulating around here, LSU is the most profitable school in the SEC. Paying 5 mil wouldn't be an issue.

there have been other threads on this.

I think the difference in their salaries is closer to $900K or a million.... so with those numbers... yes, LSU will increase Miles' salary to $1000 above the highest SEC coach's salary.... and NO I don't think it's a 1 year thing.... that's his new salary, starting next season.

Here's a more interesting question.... what if Miles IS the highest paid coach and wins it again... he gets $1000 raise????

His bonuses are a few HUNDRED $K too -- don't forget.

That would be after all the bonuses. Base salary is usually much lower. Miles would get $1000 more than the highest base salary.

Texas' Mack Brown tops the list; he's being paid more than $5 million

Saban's at 4.6, Miles 3.7

so the clause doesn't state overall compensation, just base salary?

Thats how it works. Bonuses differ every year and then there are media appearances and endorsements on top of that.

I also saw in another post that the coaches salaries are based on Jan. 1 of the year in which the increase occurs. That way, if Alabama decides to give Saban a raise after he loses the championship game, Miles does not get more than the raised amount, just the current amount. I am not sure if this is correct, but it was SIAP.
