Sorry if Germans but this article should give all Some perspective. I love CLM but we would be fools to not appreciate the foundation that NS set for LSU football.

Nick Sabans Role in Creating the LSU Monster

quote:

“Before Saban arrived at LSU the talent in Louisiana was a virtual grab bag for the top programs in surrounding states,” Long said. “These days it's rare that a top player in the state goes anywhere but Baton Rouge.”

LSU made Nick Saban. He wouldn't be where he is today without us.

I appreciate what he did for LSU, but that doesn't mean I have to like him.

I think any sensible person realizes he played an important role in our rejuvenation. However, he also screwed us pretty good upon his exit and the success achieved was mutually beneficial: he gained from LSU and LSU gained from him. It's not as though he did it on his own.

Please excuse me if I am not able to do that at this particular point in time. Maybe after the 9th.

I appreciate what Nick accomplished at LSU, and still do.

However, like too many of these articles and narratives, that one paints the picture of LSU being much bleaker before he arrived than it actually was in reality.

Actually...Dinardo was the one that started building the recruiting fence around Louisiana. Just check out the players that were here in 2000 when Saban arrived for proof. Long needs to recognize.

I appreciate that Nick Saban led LSU to a 13-1 record and the 2003 National Championship. Thanks for the title, coach.

Nick is the biggest prick in all of college football, if we would have had miles after the denardo tenure we would be where we are now regardless!!

I appreciated him like I appreciate that William Tecumseh Sherman was once the superintendent of LSU.

I appreciate Les. NC#4 is Les Miles' creation.

Not to mention building the excitement around the program again. DiNardo went to every corner of Louisiana and sold the state on this football program. He then went and locked down freakin' talent. There are still starting OLinemen in the NFL that DiNardo recruited to LSU that we weren't getting before that. Kevin Faulk still is the most important recruit that LSU has gotten in the last 30 years. And, that was all DiNardo.

This.

Saban got handed a pool of talent unlike any other at what had already been established as the only game in town. Go look at the unbeatable monsters he left at Toledo, Michigan State and the Dolphins upon his departure if you want to know what a great genius he really is.
