I was thinking last night while watching the Sugar Bowl about the work that goes into getting the field ready for the games. I was wondering about the turf in the dome. Do they have different turfs they put down or do they just paint the turf that is there? Either way, there are going to be some people working their butts off this weekend!!

They just pressure wash the paint off the endzones and midfield and repaint

Ok, Lsuman. Makes sense to me. Just thinking about all the hash marks having to be redone for Saturday and then again for Monday. Looks like some people gonna be pulling the graveyard shift Saturday night after the Saints play.

I am pretty sure they have an NFL turf they roll out with the NFL hash marks and a college turf with college hash marks.

No, I don't think the artificial turf is edible.

This. Can't imagine the amount of work that's gonna be needed to make sure the turf is PERFECT for Monday.

Couldn't be worse than the Cap One Bowl against Penn St.

Its artificial turf not real grass. Shouldn't be too hard, not like these guys haven't done it before.

Man! That was the absolute worst I have ever seen a field prepared to play a game on at any level, and I officiate HS football on some pretty rough fields when it is wet!

It'll be harder to get the stadium clean than it will be to get the turf ready. Probably take 6 hrs to get the field ready.

I have been wondering this too. Those fields with the ground up rubber pieces would be just about impossible to "remove" to roll out different turf like they used to do in the old days. That rubber is about 2-3 inches thick. I would also imagine that pressure washing would be a bitch too.

Pressure washing isn't that bad its the drying that is a pain in the arse... put big arse fans out there to try and help speed it up
