Trying to plan bro in laws bachelor party. Was thinking about a Tuna Fish, but we will have 8 people which is too many for one boat. So, I am now looking at getting a doing a hog hunt in late February.

What are some things I need to look for? I dont think we want to go to a fenced in pin where they trap hogs in a really small area. But I am new to this and have not done this before. It is hard to tell what kind of places most of these are by looking on the internet, so I was hoping to get some recommendations from some who have been before. Would also be nice to have something to do during the down time as well. TIA

You get the FB message from ben?

Also, I can ask my uncle about going out to his place in South Shreveport. He kills usually 2-3 a week out there, but I don't know if they would want a whole bunch of folks out there.

Texas is a big place. I can ask some of our suppliers if they know anything, but it would help if you gave some idea about where. I know some guys in the Valley too. McAllen (where I am) is about 5-6 Hours from Houston, and that may be too far for 8 guys to drive for a night of hog shooting.

EDIT: I think there is an OB member that was looking for help shooting hogs earlier this season. I don't remember his handle.

OK, I am not sure if the King Ranch has anything, but they can deliver some good times for a group of guys. Also, the closer you get to Mexico (inside Border Patrol Checkpoint) the more indulgent the night life.

Big Woods on the Trinity

Really nice lodging. Ask for the small bunk house.
Main ranch house has pool table, poker table, Movie room, shuffle board, and a full kitchen. There is a rifle range and there is a skeet range also. The staff is very knowlegable and they can accomadate 8 easily. There is a cook if you want meals made. The breakfast is outstanding.

It is a huge place. All open fence on the Trinity river bottom here in East Texas. Lots of hogs. The owner will ususally take one lucky person out per night on his electric cart and let you shoot one with night vision also.

If you decide to go with them let me know so you can tell them I sent them your way.

FWIW: I am the guy that was looking for hog control but I can only have 3-4 guys max and have no lodging. I will be posting something this week with a better description.

3.5 hours without stops.
There are some fair titty bars in Tyler on the way. There is also some really good catfishing and crappie fishing around here in the spring. Make sure to ask about fishing catfish creek when you call Big Woods. If yall are interested Big Crappie is a local guide service that can take yall out within 45 min of the lodge.

Big Woods can be difficult to get on the phone but it is worth it. Be persistant. They process all your meat too down to quaters.
