Marques Colston, WR
He is arguably the most underrated wide receivers in the entire NFL. His height, hands, and ability to catch the ball across the middle are traits that are very unlikely to find in any receiver these days. His quiet demeanor is not at all taken for granted throughout the front office either. The Hofstra alum has loved his time in New Orleans, and he has felt that same love back. I’m almost 100% positive number 12 will be back in the black and gold this season, even though almost every other team in the league would love to have him. He has stated that he won’t take a hometown discount, but he should be the Saints second priority this season. Watch for the franchise tag on this guy.

Chance of resigning: 90%

Aubrayo Franklin, DT
Stats are not always everything. Although Franklin is not piling up the amount of tackles expected, he is consistently plugging the hole to prevent running backs from going up the middle. His size, strength, and capability have allowed the linebackers to get a better look as to where the running back is going, explaining why their run defense has improved exceptionally since the bye. Franklin is expendable ad might not re-sign based on the amount of money the front office will be dealing out this off season, but there is definitely a possibility he can come back on another 1-year deal if necessary.

Chance of resigning: 30%

Shaun Rogers, DT
Just like Franklin, the stats aren’t everything. However he is an enormous body for offensive lineman to handle and does his job. He plays with desire, and that is what the coaches admire most about him. This 2011 Saints team is the first winning team he’s ever been involved in. Also, he has already tweeted how if the Saints want him back next year, he would sign again. I believe that Mickey Loomis would love R0gers to win a Super Bowl with the Saints and the saints could use him. Out of the two big defensive tackles. Franklin and Rogers, I believe that Rogers is more likely to be signed because of his desire, talent, size, and how he is willing to sacrifice money to remain with the team. He did that this past off season.

Chance of resigning: 60%

Turk McBride, DE
We all saw this guys’ talent during the Bears game in week 2. He has tremendous amount of ability to get to the quarterback, which the Saints need desperately. Unfortunately, injuries have slowed him down this year. His ankle has bothered him all season. It leaves one to wonder if his explosiveness will be the same next season. The Saints don’t have a first-round pick next year, so it may be tough to sign a pass-rusher. And Greg Romeus, the draft pick from this past off season, will be fully healthy entering next season. Still in his prime, McBride can help the defensive line next year. But at what cost?

Chance of resigning: 50%

According to this guy we can kiss Tracy Porter goodbye.

quote:

Tracy Porter, CB: Saints fans, let’s face the facts here. The face of our franchise, best guard in the NFL, and number one receiver are all unrestricted free agents. Big money will be spent. We desperately need to invest in a pass rush to get to the quarterback on defense. We have the best safety combination in the NFC to provide pass protection. Jabari Greer is the best cornerback in the NFC South. Mickey Loomis loves drafting secondary players, and loves building through the draft. Patrick Robinson has been seeing a lot of playing time this year. Johnny Patrick is coming into his own. We don’t need a cornerback who is the worst tackler on the team and is a liability in pass protection. Mickey Loomis would love to have Porter back, he is still a great player. But his asking price will be too high and won’t settle for less. With another cornerback being added in the draft, that makes Porter expendable. There is still a chance he resigns, but only if he takes a pay-cut. I don’t see that happening.

Chance of resigning: 10%

He also thinks Meacham may have to take a pay cut to stay with the Saints.

quote:

Robert Meachem, WR: Without a doubt, the player in which I am most curious to see whether they resign or not is Robert Meachem. Huge money will be dealt to Colston, so who knows what Mickey is thinking about his number two receiver. His speed allows him to be a huge deep threat to opposing teams, and he scores multiple touchdowns every year. He will surely be missed if he leaves. The Saints would love to keep him, but the fact is they just might no have enough money. Although, Meachem may take a pay-cut to remain with a talented offense and a chance at the Super Bowl. However, he does have the ability to be the number one receiver on teams such as Jacksonville or Cleveland.

Chance of resigning: 50%

That was surprising. Are we ready to go into next year with Johnny Patrick as our 3rd CB? Will he be ready for that responsibility?

eggzackly, ya can find as informed of opinions here.

I go lower than 50% on Colston myself. He has stated no discount to stay (like Lance Moore)+ the mounting injury resume + Graham as THE go to big bodied guy. I think they offer him fair enough but won't be too hard for another team to outbid.

Hard to see Porter back myself. CBs with his skill set will get offers + Patrick steps up for a small % of what TP22 will cost + the injury history on him also, virtually chronic.

Franklin is misplaced in a 4-3, surely a better situation for him elsewhere

McBride & Rogers they can have back at whatever they offer if they want them.

Meachem I do put at 50%. I think he re-signs a team friendly deal IF they want him. Ya gotta think a lotta WRs would be chomping at the bit to be a part of this system & catch the Brees perfect passes.
