Your comments: Nick Saban latest name mentioned in Penn State football head coach rumor mill

"I told you yesterday Jones that it was not Munchak. If you want the truth and not the usual garbage you spew, it's Nick Saban. How do I know? Someone in my family recently donated $$,$$$,$$$. The contract is for 6 years, $48million. The school is paying $5m/yr, and the rest is coming from the Nike contract. He'll be making 60% more than anyone in college football.

Sounds ridiculous right? No it's not. Saban and his wife are from West Virginia and Nick grew up going to Penn State games with his dad. Saban also never really wanted to leave Michigan State as his closest friends are Tom Izzo and Dantonio. From what I was told, it was Lubert, Parker, and Delaney who were the power brokers behind this deal. This is a huge power play for everyone involved...Penn State, Nike, and the Big Ten.

I keep hearing theres going to be an announcement on Jan 3rd or 4th. That's not true either. The official announcement won't happen until the middle of January. Saban will have two weeks to try and salvage this recruiting class, but from what I was told this is of no concern. I'll be back in January to remind you once again I was right."

You do realize that was not a writer for a newspaper, rather a comment from a fan named loldaveyjones, right? It was, essentially, Pennlive irresponsibly posting nothing more credible than some of the nonsense that is posted on this site in relation to Saban to WVU, OSU, USC, Cowboys, Texas, etc.

Waste of time to post.

There is no way in hell that Saban would ever go to Penn State. It's not a traditionally powerful program and it doesn't need to be rebuilt. They can't afford him anyway. Same with Texas...they can't afford him either.

He will retire at Bama, its a lock.

I think it is entirely plausible.

Money speaks to Saban's ego no matter where it comes from, and this happens to come from a former Traditional/National Power that he'd love to resurrect from scandal & under-achieving and win his "3rd NC at a 3rd program", which further speaks to his ego.

However, imo, should Mack resign, the Texas job would be far more attractive considering the built-in elite in-state recruiting pool, the snowstorm-less geography, the infinite amount of Texas money, and the minimal efforts needed to resurrect an under-achieving but talent-laden team to process his "3rd crystal ball at a 3rd Program" achievement .

With that said, Saban will probably just bend Bama over for more money.

Saban turned down Penn St & Texas. waiting on a call from Kim Jong Un (N.K.Supreme Leader). My source: Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Welcome to the crap Saban put the Michigan State & LSU Fanbases through-annually-almost every year he was a head coach at those locations.

Just like getting used to words like "process" or phrases like "relative to", get used to hearing sh!t like this, continually.

And as long as that happens is all that matters to me. The obviousness of bama buying victories further ruins their tradition.......Ruins their "Tradition" one dollar at a time.

We hear it every year, but it is usually from rival fans and hasn't panned out yet. It might one day and then all will say "told ya so". Of course, a move to LSU from MSU was a big jump up. A move to the NFL from LSU was a jump up in Saban's mind. Flame away, but how is PSU a jump up from Bama? He has teams playing for the BCS for the 2nd time in 3 years. He continually recruits top 5 classes and has top 5 to top 10 finishes in the polls. And he's 60 now. He's in a different position than he was SEVEN years ago when he left LSU at 53, or TWELVE years ago when he left MSU at 48.

Matter of fact, LSU just tweeted out that its football program spends 1.65 million per victory based on last year's numbers. The average cost per victory for the Top 10 most valuable teams is 1.15 million.

We were the only SEC school to make that list, per Forbes & LSU. Sorry, no link.

Fans in East Lansing & Baton Rouge heard it every year, as well.

Just saying that you should get used to it.

I don't understand this Saban will follow money crap,..He came to LSU because he had dreams of building a power program. It was the last big sleeping giant and he had a great opportunity to be in charge of that..He always had dreams of being an NFL coach. When the time came that NFL came calling it was a hard decision bc he felt responsible for the new winning traditions at LSU and loved the college life but still wanted to finish his dream. After the NFL didnt work out he landed at another huge power and hasn't looked back.. I don't get the money hungry argument, to me he's just chasing his dreams and kicking arse along the way. We, LSU should be grateful we were apart of that...

at the time mich st to lsu was not a jump up. the dolphins to bama was not a jump up.

saban said when he was hired at lsu he took the job because he likes to buid things. He said when he left, once he reached the pinnacle, he didn't think he could ever match the same emotional passion as the first one.

Michigan st told us he would leave, we knew he would, he held us hostage every year. while we loved him we got tired of it.

history tells us that he's the larry brown of college football. he did it to mich st, lsu, miami, and at some point to bama. he has no ties or emotional attachment to the school. it's a job to him. he's great at what he does, however, anyone thinks they have him for life is mistaken.

You can book this. No matter if the rumor is true or not Saban will get a huge increase in pay.Thats why LSU avoided Sexton like the plague in the last search.
