Anyone using the Whole Home DVR setup for COX in the Baton Rouge area? If so, how is it working out for you? About how much more per month do they charge for it. I'm thinking about upgrading...

Bump... Anyone, Anyone?
I'm curious, too. And has it fixed the DVR issue of not recording/freezing channels?

i have it in denham
the feature is nice and it works ok, but this dvr has the same problems with lag/interface as everyone else has
its all caused by the new software IMO
its the same price if i'm not mistaken

Croaka, how did you go about getting it?
Posted on 12/30/11 at 12:29 pm to bubbz
i had never heard of it, but my dad got one installed
he had the number of the cox guy who did it, and i called him and he said they were rolling out a few for testing and he came and installed one
i've had this thing for 2-3 months...and theyve called me a couple times to ask what if any problems i was having
like i said, its kinda laggy, and the FF and REW in the satellite rooms is a little aggravating

A few questions...
1. How many tuners does it have?
2. What's the problem with satellite room operation? Isn't it just like using a normal DVR in every room?
3. Does it require any cabling beyond the coax?
4. Do the secondary receivers make any noise? I presume they don't contain a hard drive, but what about a fan?

DVR menu is even more laggy than the main room, and the FF and REW is laggy too

nope

Thanks for the reply! I was expecting it would have at least four tuners. I currently have three on my Media Center HTPC, and that's just barely enough to handle, say, Sunday nights, where I record Fox, Showtime, and AMC. I wouldn't want to go down to two tuners, and then pay $20/mo or whatever it is in perpetuity for the privilege. One really good thing about the HTPC route is no monthly fees, though you do have to buy the tuners (and extenders if you want the whole house thing).
