I'm looking for a new bar with good food (or restaurant with a cool bar) to try out. I'm meeting a few friends for drinks and some of us want to eat as well. I've tried all of the new places on Oak and Freret and was looking for something different. Any ideas?

You could try The avenue Pub on Saint Charles. I'm a big fan of their grilled cheese sammich

I liked the sports bar in the Hyatt. Food was good/not great.

Say what you will about Pat O's but they have some delicious fried catfish.

Big M, try Bouligny Tavern. Wrong board though.

I always like that erster bar at the burbon house...then, once I have a good buzz, I slide over to a table to eat that redfish with the crab sauce...

I figured someone would point that out. I thought the OT would have a lot more traffic at this hour and I needed some quick ideas.

I guess I should specify that I'm from New Orleans and have probably tried most of the usual recommendations uptown. I was hoping for something new that I haven't tried, but I guess that's tough without me listing every place I've been to.

their food is terrible as is the service. the food is usually cold by the time it gets to the table and almost always overdone.

Have you been to Bouligny Tavern? It is next to Lillete and owned by John Harris. Enough said bro. The result today sucked, looked like Wolves had two keepers.

I must politely disagree. In my experiences, I've had awful food, awful service, and a miserably sterile chain restaurant atmosphere.
