Are there any current shooters out there that are anything like the greatness that was Socom 2?
I have tried to play Modern Warfare but it just wasn't the same, is Battlefield 3 closer to the gameplay of Socom?

SOCOM was a 3rd person shooter correct? I'm not thinking either BF or COD satisfy that style, R6V was the last game I remember like that.

Nothing compares to socom 2 and all its greatness. Would pay up for a remake. Everything the same just better graphics.

SOCOM was a 3rd Person Shooter, but the gameplay was what really set it apart.
I (along with a ton of other people I am sure)would definitely buy a remake with updated graphics and keeping everything else the same and maybe putting a few new maps.

I donno why the wont. Surely they have enough to support and make money off this idea. or am I just crazy and the socom 2 cult is smaller than I think it is?

Cross platform and a new game could be a COD challenger, imo.

I know it would be for me. But I dont think most of the cod fanbase could handle the gameplay. Just like most cant to BF.

At it's peak, I remember SOCOM II having about 100,000 on per night when Online was still somewhat in infancy. The gameplay required you to work with your team and I think it would be a welcome challenger to a game like Call of Duty. The communication was necessary to achieve victory.
One thing I would have liked would be to be able to choose a varying type of game on each map though.

I think it's my MMO background, I like teamwork and strategy. Running around mindlessly shooting people got old for me in Quake III.

I agree. It was intense. It was just awesome or more so amazing. Maps were perfect size and build. Christ I get hard just remembering those days.

Was the latest SOCOM not that good?

SOCOM 2 was the tits until the servers started going to shite. Got even worse when 3 came out (in which the maps were too large imo)
