Figured it deserved a thread of it's own at this point. Since the Season 1 Finale, there have been a couple articles released with speculation on where the show is going for Season 2.

*Obviously at this point if you haven't seen Season 1, you'll want to exit stage right. You've been forewarned.*

You can read the initial NYMag.com article posted by purplepylon in the Season 1 Finale thread here.

The following MSNBC article with quotes from creator and Executive Producer, Ryan Murphy, goes more indepth on what to expect..

LINK

Just some juicy tidbits from the article:

quote:

New Location: "What you saw in the finale was the end of the Harmon house. The second season of the show will be a brand-new home or building to haunt," Murphy said. "Just like this year, every season of this show will have a beginning, middle and end. [The second season] won't be in L.A. It will obviously be in America, but in a completely different locale."

New Theme: This season's theme was infidelity, and season two will also have an overlying theme running through the episodes. "The season we're planning now is very different from the California house approach," Murphy revealed. Now here comes the cool part: "There is a clue in the last three episodes where we resay what the next season will be about." Get to searching, "AHS" fans! And since the new season will have a new building and location, the opening credit sequence will change as well, but Ryan said he will be "hopefully" using the same artist who created season one's incredibly chilling sequence.

Speculation on new location? I'm thinking it could be based on the hauntings in Roanoke, after all Constance is from Virginia so maybe we'll still get a healthy dose of her (or her former self) too?

quote:

Movie Stars: Because the shooting schedule of "AHS" is much like a movie commitment (three months or so), and because each season will bring new castmembers, Murphy has targeted film actors who he's wanted to work with to join the cast of season two. He reasons that since they'll only be attached to the show for one season, he can bring on people who have film careers so they won't be locked down for five seasons. "This allows for those who haven't done television to step up and say 'let's do this,'" said Murphy. "I've been getting a lot of calls from film actors who have wanted to dabble in television but never could figure out how."

This. Is. Awesome.

The potential for this show just shot through the roof if they can nail down some great actors. Super excited.

Good call...that would be a great way to take it.

How about Larry does his time in an old haunted prison? You could have all kinds of fricked up characters and storylines with that.

He dead. And they said it wouldn't be L.A.

The only thing I can think of might be Vivian's sister?

Roanoke sounds possible, bit they really only talked about that in one episode. They have been trying for a couple of episodes to go to Vivian's sisters house. Not sure why her house would suddenly be haunted though.

I don't think it will be Roanoke, but Virginia sounds like it could be a very good possibility. With Jessica Lange getting so much praise for her performance in this last season I feel like they might be willing to keep her for the next and then input all the other new characters around her or at least feature her in a couple episodes.

The only other place I feel like that was mentioned was Florida (Where Vivian's sister lived). But I'd be surprised if they did that.

Anybody that reads the weekly threads knows that I love the way they are moving to a new plot and setting

This way this show (if it keeps it up) can really become a show people talk about for years. It has all the advatages of a seasoned show without the disadvantages (Characters being there too long and getting stale etc)

Think of your favorite shows at the tail end of their run, you of course wish they could run forever but know they cant because the actors hate being the same people, the show needs a proper burial and an ends to the means etc etc and so you know it needs to end but you dont want it to, this show doesnt really get to that point. It can always be fresh

Also can you imagine some ofthese really awesome actors and actresses that will actually do this show knowing that its basically like a movie.

Also who know in 3-4 years they could bring back some old storylines and go further into it. The possibilities are awesome

/excited rant

Also good job on the Thread, it was much needed

Wow, just when I thought Hollywood had lost it's imagination. With the critical acclaim this show is getting you would think at worst B list actors would be lining up to do this show. I will miss the characters from this season and some of the unanswered question but I feel this direction is in the best interest of the show. 50 bucks says the Halloween episode of season 2 is off the chain with cameos and shite.

I think they could go to Virginia and we will learn about the past of Constance some. I think in the 3rd season they could possibly go back to the LA house.

i also called violet being dead and that tate knew she was dead when she was trying to leave with her mom, that's why he was upset. he knew she couldn't leave and if she tried then she'd find out she was dead...etc...

but i didn't get much recognition for that either

I have a question that's totally off topic:

Why does Moira's spirit age? When Constance killed her she was that young hot thing that Dr. Harmon sees. So why does she get older and the rest stay the same age?

Sorry for the hijack but it seems this is where the experts are.

This is what I've thought about ever since Mara was in the series.

some say b/c she has an "old soul". she sees herself as an old maid, but certain men could see her as they wanted.

ie...tate still thinks he's a teenager so that is how he has remained in "spirit"

All throughout the past couple episode threads by multiple posters.

Have you dislocated your shoulder patting yourself on the back like that yet? A lot of people thought Violet could be dead too after the attempt. Hell, there were people who thought the whole family could've been dead from the get go.

But seriously, let it go man.

Newbury Street was mentioned in the last episode. Maybe they're going back to Beantown.

yeah yeah whatever. it's a cool show and lots of people have theories and i'm one of them. i'm no EXPERT by any means and never claimed to be.

i did state that i thought it would continue in another city and the reason i thought that was b/c of the title "american horror story", not a certain city.

anyway, cool show and i like the direction it's taking but will miss constance for sure

Yeah people were saying that since like episode 8 bro.

ETA just a quick search found this post two pages before yours on that same thread by Pectus

So ep 12 is the last one? Looks like we'll have a ghost war then wrap up a great horror story. Yes, this shows that this will be one story a season kind of thing!

Ill give you more when I get home if you want me to because Ive had discussions with people in the weekly threads about that senerio long before episode 11, and I wasnt the first person to think it would be a completely different story and setting
