My 15 year old posed this question to me. If you had to choose for this season and could guarantee either a Super Bowl win for the Saints or National Title for the Tigers, but not both, which would you choose.
Silly perhaps, but for me it was like asking to choose between my two kids. Wondering if anyone else on this board would struggle with such a dilemma

Saints without hesitation. Not even close.

Why would you have to choose?
But I'll play. If I really had to pick this season, LSU. Only because I feel like this season has to be capped off perfectly.

Tough call, prob a Saints victory, LSU will be great for years. The saints only have another few years.

LSU.
Only time it was Saints over LSU was when the Saints had never won a championship. Definitely then I'd take Saints.. but now that they have.. I prefer LSU championships.

I love my tigers, but a superbowl win > national champs any day, and it's not close.

If I could GUARANTEE one it would be the Saints, because it'll be harder for them to do it than it will be for LSU. By the way you phrased your question, you are not saying both can't win, just both can't be guaranteed.
If I could only have one win the title, it would be LSU, because I couldn't take them losing to Alabama. If the Saints went and lost to GB again, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world

Perhaps if the opponent were anyone but saban and the gumps, I'd pick the Saints, knowing that the Brees/Payton window won't stay open forever, but the thought of losing to Bama just makes my skin crawl.

In reality probably the saints bc I want another before the brees era is over

LSU has the chance to have a season for the ages. Unmatchable perhaps.
But on the other hand a second Saints superbowl is an even rarer phenomena.
I still have to go with the tigers this year. If the Saints somehow lose down the stretch, I'll live
A tiger loss this year will be much harder for me to take

Lsu, just cus if green bay knocks off the saints i could easily swallow them just being better. But not bama beating lsu. Plus the saints would just need a lil upgrade to the d and they would def be the team to beat, if they arent already.

here's the thing, its not like its impossible that they could both happen, just that you could guarantee only 1.
since LSU is already in the title game, guarantee Saints, that way we would have a shot for both.
If you guarantee LSU that means that the Saints may not even make the Super Bowl, but if you have both in their respective title games, then there is an opportunity for both to happen.
and LSU wins anyways.

Nothing will ever beat the Saints Super Bowl for me, but a perfect season with 2 wins over Bama comes close. Make mine LSU.

you could give LSU 10 years probation and a 5 year bowl ban if it meant the Saints winning another superbowl. And I'm an LSU alum and love the Tigers.
I passed on face value NC game club tix (wouldn't scalp them as its a friend of the family) so I could buy wild card game seats (which will definitely be overpriced) or go to divisional round game.
