Highest scoring starting player. That's actually how we determined ties in a league I once played in. I think the ties should be broken by starters, not by people you decided not to play. Doing bench points basically awards the team who didn't start the right people, ya know?

also one guy might have more qbs while the other has extra defense which wont put up more points than a qb most of the time

That's a tough call. I'm not sure how you'd do it if only one tie breaker rule was made and that's also a tie. How's this for a crazy idea:
If it's really a tie and the next week is championship week, advance all 3 teams and the highest scorer wins it all. You can still keep tabs of scoring on the consolation ladder for the "third" team.
