I am still on a high after the game last night and I hate to get off of it but some of the comments by the johnny come lately's who haven't followed the team are unreal.

Even with an incredible win over a top ten team they want to criticize and shine on some players as well as, of course, Trent Johnson.

Hamilton was picked on because he didn't dominate and score a ton of points. Really? He isn't that kind of player but he is a damn good one! In fact I would say he has been our most consistent player and one of the leaders out there helping to settle down the freshmen.

I mean did you happen to notice that he won the game for us at the end by hitting all of those free throws? Do you know of many other 7 footers who are good free throw shooters? He has a nice hook shot in the post and can shoot a 12 foot jumper (wish he wouldn't shoot them further than that though). He is an excellent passer for a big man and is usually calm and focused amid the chaos that a young inexperienced team will have.

And for everyone that expects us to win all of our games now. If this team has shown one overall characteristic it is inconsistency. They have been up and down like a roller coaster. Every team has off games, this one has had more than most.

One game it will be Hickey and O'Bryant that shines. The next it will be Hamilton and Storm. In the early games, Stringer was a real contributor (get well soon). Almost everyone on the team has done well at one time or another. The problem has been getting them all to play well at the same time.

Last night we finally put it all together. The only negatives were the turnovers and free throw shooting. A lot of the turnovers come from trying to hard to make something happen. The free throw shooting has actually been great so far and last night was the exception.

Ralston Turner, our all Freshmen team last year, and our best shooter has been in a horrible slump. He broke out of it last night in a huge way. If he can do that every night we will have a good season.

I have said in many other posts that I think O'Bryant will be a great player but that I think Storm should start. I think Storm proved in the first half last night that we need him out there. But make no mistake. O'Bryant is a future great. I am sure there will be more than a couple of games where he will be one of our best players. Just needs some seasoning and to learn how to play within the system.

My last comment will be about those that think Trent shows no emotion and acts like he doesn't care. Of all the criticism, this is the most ridiculous! The man is intense, he just keeps it inside for the most part. Do you want a coach or a cheerleader?

So I hope all of you first timers will start following and supporting this team now. They will have other disappointing losses but a real fan will be there through thick and thin. I have been there the last two years and am ready for better times but I am realistic that it takes time.

The 1st thing you have to realize is that you are in fact on the Rant.

And, in before :tldr:

It wasnt the lack of points for me. It was how soft he played compared to the fatass guarding him at times.

He took a lot of GOOD shots last night. And he is a very good shooter when he isnt trying to create on his own. Its not really his game.

Youre right....over Eddie.

I was about to play the "too long, didn't read" card...but I decided to read the OP's post, and it was a damned good one. Nice points and I agree with it all.

It is amazing how people can generalize everything based on ONE game. The South Alabama loss was not a reason to fire the coach...just as last night's win was not a reason to believe we will be cutting down nets in April. What last night does signify, though, is HOPE. This team seems to be getting better and there is now reason to believe we can get to 8-8 or so in the SEC and get some sort of post season bid. It is amazing what a good point guard and some decent, active big men can do for ya...

Well maybe people can just enjoy the sport for what it is and give the players some credit. No one is saying they are going to win the NC, but a little love is not too much to ask.

Not a huge BB fan, but that game brought back memories of Redden and co. I guess just the excitement, but I am encouraged and see a young talented team. I hope they build on it because I would love for my son's to witness the Deaf Dome in all its glory.

Hopefully I can get them to a game soon and we can have it rockin' like it use to.

I watched the game. Team played hard and came through.

I don't see why anyone would think this is some huge sign of things to come. As I have said many times on this board about LSU basketball.......They are going to have to prove it to me in SEC play.

Nice win and all but anyone saying the corner has been turned and LSU is now a legit NCAA team is a total moron. Let's see them play the full season but AT LEAST it looks like there is some hope

No I didn't read every thread but didn't see much complaining

but again, some folks think one win is a championship, others want to see if on a every game basis
