Does anyone know how he has been coming along since joining the program? I really liked him as a recruit and would love to see him succeed here in a couple of years.

I honestly think next year it will be Jerrard Randall getting the second string snaps. He is the most untalked about unbelievable talent we've had in a while and he brings a great change of pace to the offense that we know Miles likes.

Rivers is a pro-style like Mett and still needs to put on more weight.

He might be a guy like Flynn that will get his chance if he's patient and good enough. I heard after Mett, Randal was turning heads in practice. Rivers had a long way to go. Now in a coupe more years, Rivers may get a shot to be the guy just like Flynn did.

I understand he has been doing well at practice taking a knee in the victory formation. JLee has been working with him.

I think lsu is the only school in the universe, at any level that feels the need to have a "change of pace" quarterback.

I just wish we could have a dominate quarterback for once.
Well since Russell.

this....and I personally think that JR, with his explosive skill sets, will also push Mett to upgrade his own. Rivers needs time to mature physically but is a competitor and will not geaux away quietly. this is good.

Rivers was listed as 3rd string when JJ was out, so it seemed at least early on he'd beaten out Randall. it'll be interesting to see how they both do after getting a spring under their belts. nice to have some talented QB depth.

Per Dandy Don:

"Thinking ahead to next season, yesterday I took a look at LSU's roster of returning players and redshirt freshmen, and was very encouraged by what I saw. The future certainly looks very bright. On the offensive side of the ball, LSU will return starters or lettermen at each position except quarterback. The quarterback position will probably be filled by Zach Mettenberger, although I am hearing great things about redshirt freshman quarterback Stephen Rivers (6'6", 200) who knows the playbook like the palm of his hand."

Idk pillar your prediction on Armand isn't looking too hot.

Nah but I agree, randall is extremely gifted. If he can put it all together, and he should have ample time to, he'll be very legit.

He hasnt impressed me with his passing, but evidently he is ahead of Randall on the depth chart still. That said, I do think les enjoys having a change of pace player at QB to run the option, etc and add an extra offensive wrinkle.

I'd hope next year Randall sees snaps like RP in 2007. He's a much more athletic, better passing version of JJ. Almost a spitting image of Herb Tyler or a Tyrod Taylor

Rivers is a long way away but like someone said earlier, if he waits it out, he could get the same opportunity as Flynn.

Over tea, I overheard one of the trainers saying he's 6'11" now, but still only 124 lbs, can anyone confirm?

I saw Rivers at the SECCG and he was a twig.

Mett is a huge guy and should be a weapon next year. Still think Randall is too small to be a running QB but he may put on some muscle in a year.

TIFWIW, but Miles was asked a couple of weeks ago about the QB spot next year, he answered that we have 2 guys on the roster now, Mett and Rivers, and were looking to take a couple in the recruiting class. Not sure why the questioner didn't follow-up about Randall.

, ole Beanpole. But seriously, I hope we get to see him play some good snaps next season. Unless that'd require an injury to occur, then nevermind.
