No, they don't. The law was changed several years ago. They have to pay face value for their tickets. They are no longer free.

With the prices tickets are going for, face is damn near free.

But its the fans that spend their money on gameday that does more for the Athletic Department than anything the legislators do.
How? How does it matter to LSU who buys the tickets? They didn't give them away.

There's a lot of misplaced anger in this thread.

LSU, not the legislators, has decided to use its allotment of tickets in a certain manner. I'd be pissed if the legislators required LSU to provide those tickets, but they didn't.

LSU is using these tickets as a political tool. If LSU thought you had something worth giving them, they'd offer you tickets as well.

the decibel level lost by tickets going to legislature instead of fanatics will be the difference between winning and losing.

Time for a story: Back in the day, one of my fraternity brothers was dating a golden girl who had a summer internship in Sammy Nunez's office. Nunez had designs on her also and made the mistake of calling my friend up and making some not so veiled threats. They crossed paths in a bar one night and my friend beat the dogshit out of him. The incident was swept under the rug for obvious reasons, but at least one member of the lege got what was coming to him

I'm guessing probably the majority will sell them for a nice Xmas bonus. Scoundrels.

Not one of them will sell their tickets, if anything they would give them away.

Would you not buy tickets to this game because you don't "deserve" them in someones eyes.

The only reason people b*tch is out of jealousy, no one cares if they get tickets to the independence bowl or the New Orleans Bowl. If you have a problem have it in principal not the situation

You can't tell it by their votes. "LSU isn't in my district," so said my state senator when queried about his position on a bill LSU supported. But dollars to donuts that bastard, or someone he gave the tickets to, will be in the Dome Jan 9.

Lost in all this is not only the access to 6 tickets (which I think would be in the top couple of hundred in TAF PP), but the fact that they are primo seats compared to the nosebleeds most of the TAF contingent got. And many of those bastards will turn around and cut LSU's budget, or fight to keep "their" 4 year school intact when it should be converted to a JC.

I promise LSU knows every bit of this when they decide to make those tickets available. It's a calculated political maneuver on the part of LSU.

They are not free. They pay the face value, for football and baseball. If someone complains about where they are too bad. Otherwise, so what?

A lot of butthurt in this thread.

Let's just say that one of my immediate family members is a state rep and the majority of what I have read in here is completely false. Some of you crybabies need to learn about how policies are made before you start throwing your opinions around. There are truly some clueless and ignorant people in this thread. They stand out.

Well go ahead and clear it up. Legislators are offered tickets and they can buy them through LSU. That's a perk of their job that other people that aren't legislators don't get. I understand that you don't want to blame the legislators here, but they could pass a law to fix this issue.

There are a lot of very fair criticisms regarding state legislators and state senators in our state. I see several of them often at lunch around town and very few of them would be qualified to do even menial tasks for our company. Somehow that doesn't stop many of them from acting like they rule this state from Venice to Vivian while they rake in their 25,000 a year salaries. I don't see how anyone could be surprised at the fact many people cannot stand these elected officials.
