To keep Gordon here?

It just seems like all of these recent events have given us a bad rap, and readin how Gordon was "bummed" after he got the call makes me feel like this is just a terrible team to play for.

Will a new owner fix this? How do we climb out of this hole?

Somehow I'm not convinced that a lottery pick is gonna lock up Gordon. Sure, we are building for the future right now, but are you content with Andre Drummond and Aminu for CP, while we wave goodbye to Gordon?

Players typically don't leave until during or after their 2nd contract. So he'll probably re-sign as we rebuild. We'll see what happens 2 year or so into that 2nd contract.

Confused about Drummond and Aminu for CP?

Meant, if Gordon leaves, it means that the hornets rented him for 2 years and all we can show for our cp trade is our first round pick (which isnt guaranteed to be lottery) and Aminu.

I'm definitely speaking hypothetically here.

IMO, the hornets will need to make a big splash in next year's FA. Gordon seemed to thrive by having two big men that were highlight reel dunkers and good rebounders....which in turn opened up the lane for gordon to slash/create and also cause his defender to sag, opening up the 3 for him.

Plus, the hornets need a pg. I'm not dead set in doing this, but I'm kinda wishing we could look into doing a sign and trade with Detroit to get stuckey down here. Again, not completely in full agreement with that.

Future, gotcha.

Because a lot of people here are just fans of the game and have no clue how the business side of things work.

Gordon would be choosing between $5.1 million for 1 year, and then he can leave as a UFA the next season, or taking an offer that will probably be 5 years at $8 - $12 million per year. $5 million and risk getting injured for the chance to leave, or take $40 - $60 million guaranteed to stay. Signing your 1 year lowball tender offer when you have a big deal on the table is a huge risk so hardly anyone ever does it.

Do not want Stuckey near this team. The guy just recently turned down a 5 yr 40-45 mil dollar deal and is not a pass first pg. I'd rather develop young, cheaper talent and give the money to the PF and C positions than to overpay for Stuckey. As for Gordon, he very well could position himself into a max deal which I'm sure our front office has thought about.
