Did anyone catch this episode last night? I no longer live in Baton Rouge, therefore didn't catch this past July 4th celebration at the USS Kidd. But what I saw on the show seemed no different than what they do at the Kidd every other year.

I was rather dissapointed that they didn't try to restore the 20mm, or 40mm guns; Opting to rig up some gas/spark plug cannon thing instead.

I could be wrong but i don't think the museum is allowed to have functioning MG's just out in the open. Also the "girl gun" was stupid i wonder how much extra $$$ they are charging for some tacticool bolt ons and a white paint job.

$1499 for that gun... I think those can be had without the bells as whistles for pretty cheap to.

Slept a night on the Kidd and he's right, they are not allowed to have any functioning parts on the Kidd, when there decommissioned they dismantle all working parts especially the guns

At least 3 of the 5 (5in. gun mounts) are in working condition. The one on the quarterdeck is set up for visitors to go inside. This is not one of the ones I'm talking about.

Of course, you would not want to fire a live round out of the other three, but the breach and firing mechanisms work quite well. They also traverse left/right and up/down.
