USC would have to score 45 to beat LSU. I'd like to try and watch them beat us.

Exactly.

LSU IMO is the best team in the nation bar none. I would not pick SC to win that game but it would be fun to watch. This is ESPN doing what they do best and apparently it works

Oh for God's sake, we'd skullfrick USC and wipe it off on the curtains on our way out.

They'd get nothing but field goals.

I don't think many of you actually understand the business. Oh, and Herby has been highly complimentary of LSU many times this year.

USC got destroyed by Arizona State.

The score was not indicative of how good of a game that was.

That being said, LSU would beat USC by 14+ points.

What I find funny is that some LSU fans fail to recognize that Los Angeles is a HUGE media market, while Baton Rouge is small potatoes. SC has built in advantages that LSU doesn't.

LSU fan here. I am in Santa Barbara. Run a business, here 1/2 the time. You can talk all the tv, market trash you want. Can't match the SEC for fans, tv contracts, or in general, no one here in California actually gives a shite. That is the reason for no pro team in L.A. More fairweather fans here than any where else on earth.

Here's the secret behind Herbstreit's love of everything USC:

37,253,956

(Population of California, 2010 census)

He's just working the corner for his ESPN honcho-pimps.

Roger, no matter how many times you try to act as if we don't understand the dynamics of big business, we do. Doesn't mean I don't still want to post about how fricking terrible they are.

Why do people act like we don't understand this? It's as if everyone that posts this is saying nobody is allowed to get irritated over something like this. If you put yourself out there as an unbiased critic, even though we know you're full of shite and work for ESPN, it doesn't mean we won't call you on it when ESPN is trying to make next year happen.

I'm sure you get it. I'm sure lots of others do too, but there is a vocal, very rantardesque cybersegment of the population here that just doesn't.

@ Santa Barbara Tiger: College football is religion in the South, it never will be on the West Coast. Anybody that knows college football knows that USC is a force to be reckoned with though. I think that is why the only SEC team with the stones to put us on their schedule is Tennessee. The rumors of our demise are greatly exagerrated.

USC has a very talented and prolific offense and they could cause us some problems but they would have to protect the ball for it to matter. Their offense wouldn't be on the field enough to score enough to beat us. We would wear them out and run down their throats like we have in every other game this year. We also have a big special teams advantage. They'd hang for a while and if we completely screwed ourselves they could win but no person being completely honest can say they think USC would beat LSU straight up. It's just not reasonable. We'd win by 3 touchdowns by pulling away in the 2nd half.

The media markets are big to ESPN and TV in general but just because the Pac 12 has bigger cities doesn't mean they have anywhere near the following that the SEC has and it's not close. The Pac 12 tv deal is so big because of the timing of it and the networks involved. The Fox networks are desperate to get their foot majorly into college football and the Pac 12 happened to be the conference up for a new deal.It greatly helped the Pac 12 schools in terms of money but when the SEC deal is redone it will not be the biggest any longer. The new SEC deal will smash the Pac 12 deal and in reality the SEC has a ton more viewers on a weekly basis than the Pac 12. Really all the Pac 12 deal did was give the schools money. They can't compete in the media with the SEC or in terms of brand and viewership. Not even comparable no matter how the west coast guys try to spin it.

ESPN called USC the national ch in 2003 and created the controversy ! They still claim USC won the NC that year even
Though LSU won the BCS national ch.

Someone at Espn is a big USC fan and supporter
ASU was never a great team. USC squeaked by Minn and barely beat org who we dominated !!!

Org missed a chip shot FG at the end of the game against USC should have won

I'd say someone at ESPN knows they should probably play to the second biggest media market in the country.

Why do we have a thread talking about the second or third best team in the Pac-12 on the Rant?

If you are complaining about it, I imagine you don't get it. Why complain if you really understand the game???

If some of you do "get it" you do a poor job of communicating that. The "love" on ESPN and other college football shows is split up to create interest in other markets, most of them larger than LSU's.
