It is disconcerting that Alabama has been able to get a blue chipper here and there from our great state. Are we (LSU) recruiting any Bama's blue chippers this year or next year?

That's a shame. I will admit that I don't know too much about recruiting so perhaps it's naive of me to think that if we pursue some highly sought after recruits in Alabama, Saban will be more inclined to stay out of Louisiana.

There is less SEC level talent and two SEC Universities there recruiting already.

Alabama is traditionally stacked with SEC talent

But you're right about this. Florida St seems to be in there a lot too.

In addition to being an incredible recruiter, Saban has many many ties in LA. Stealing recruits from the other's state is one aspect of the Miles v Saban battle that Miles won't win. Miles has been able to offset this picking up guys elsewhere.

We still recruit on that I-10 corridor. I just don't think we do much out of the Mobile area. That area has been good to us, although with 1-10 into Texas, why wouldn't we want to focus resources there.

I think Jimbo recruited a lot in the mobile area when he was here and continued that at FSU. I think that's where a majority of the talent in alabama is.

I agree with you that recruiting in the state of Texas is important for LSU. Just that it would be nice, now and then, to take one of Bama's recruit. It's one of those pride thing...

What about Kwon Alexander?

There seems to be legit LSU interest in him

Sam Gibson will be a beast imo. Wasn't a blue chipper but it doesn't matter where they start, it's where they end. Mo and TM7 are great examples.

Our starting right guard, Josh Williford, is from Alabama. He was not a highly-rated prospect though. He was a sleeper. It still feels good though to steal a quality player right out from under Saban's nose. Williford has developed well and has become a pretty good player.

Also, Kendrick Adams is from Alabama. He's another decent player that Saban and Chizik kind of missed on.

Hopefully, Stephen Rivers from Athens, AL will turn out to be a nice QB for us.

That's right, forgot about Williford. For some reason, I keep thinking he is from Mississippi.

Would be awesome. Winning the BCSNG with Rivers at the helm would be a stab in the hearts of Bamas' fans.

meh...
Saban has yet to take a quality player that LSU wanted. It almost seems like Saban is wooing players every year just to prove a point. If Collins goes there AND proves to be a superstar and STAYS there without transferring, that would be the first one to prove your point.

Joe Barksdale (Michigan) & Spencer Ware (Ohio) agree with you.

Has Sam Gibson shown something in practice that indicates he is gonna be a good one for us? Just wondering. I haven't heard much about him. Ronald Martin seems to have passed him on the depth chart.
