While ESPN hates LSU, Rivals does not:

Bowl Predictions

quote:

BCS TITLE GAME
Alabama (11-1) vs. LSU (13-0)
Where: New Orleans
When: Jan. 9, 8:30 p.m.
The SEC West heavyweights collide again, two months after their first meeting. The last time a rematch decided the national title was in 1996, when Florida beat Florida State in the Sugar Bowl. FSU had won the regular-season meeting.

The line: LSU by 1
The pick: LSU 17-13

On ESPN, Robert Smith picked Bama but only gave them (1) confidence point. In other words, he's scurred.

LSU has the potential to run bama's arse out of N.O.

I believe in the rematch 1996, Fl. beat Fl. State 51-21. Does not speak well for LSU in a rematch game this coming Jan.

Yes, but 1996:

1. Florida State beat Florida at home.
2. Florida's offense was very innovative at the time and highly unliekly given the personnel to have been slowed down twice.

LSU beat Alabama in Tuscalousa, so logic says they should have it better this time. Plus, these are 2 defensive teams, so it is highly unliekly that one team or the other will find some unknown offensive jewel to make the game different.

Its either LSU by 10 or more or Alabama by 3 or less depending on how well Jordan Jefferson plays

SBrian

LSU has plenty more explosive weapons than bama on offense FWIW, and JJ can really explode in big games, Fact!!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that that game has no bearing on this game.

Florida State's players were exhausted at the end of this game. They sat down on the ground between plays trying to catch their breath. This will not happen to LSU.

I always think of those seminoles when LSU rests its line on the ground between plays. I recall some game where the announcers were saying "are they gassed in the first quarter?" and I was yelling at the TV, "No, they are being smart."

The grass eating, mad hatter, gutsy calling, head coach, will have the Tigers ready and the first game will be out of their minds. LSU by 13.

This.

Let's say we line up in a two back set. Congratulations, you stopped Ware, now get ready to stop Ford. Oh, you stopped Ware and Ford? Ok, now stop Blue. Oh, you stopped Ware, Ford and Blue and Kenny fricking Hilliard. Oh, whats that, you can't stop Kenny Hilliard because as a Freshamn he's more of a man than your entire team? Yeah, thats what we thought.

Not to mention with a month to prepare JJ (and, please don't impale me for saying this) a POSSIBLY resurging JL, Kragthorpe might having them looking like Matt Flynn, or at least two guys who have played the QB position before 2011.

As far as the defenses, you swap WVU and Oregon with Kent State and Penn State and we've got all the first places that the Gumps do in defensive stats.

just think about how this season has gone.....

everyone comes out on an emotional high and gives this LSU team this best shot....

in 12 of the 13 games played, by midway through the third quarter or sooner their bolt is shot and LSU begins to totally dominate...

in the first Bama game, it didn't happen until about half way through the fourth quarter, but it happened, during the overtime period they collapsed...

no one has the depth to compete with this LSU team for four quarters...i think Bama will come out sky high and just like everyone else, after we weather their initial punch, they will fizzle out...

I do believe this is true. LSU will get this victory.
