How long can we realistically keep this current coaching staff intact?

Les and Chavis... Everyone else is likely to be moving on.

Les, Chavis, Ensminger and Kragthorpe will be the constants for the next 4-8 years. Ron Cooper will be here for awhile I think, and there's no reason to think Brick will be gone anytime soon. I suppose the one we'd be most likely to lose would be Wilson, followed by Stud. Not sure where Gonzo falls.

One of the great things about this staff is that there are several key "career coordinators". Chief is in the position that he is comfortable with and I've heard in interviews (way back, no link) that he does not aspire to be a HC. Now that Stud is OC, I don't see him leaving either for a while, although it's possible. Due to health issues, I'm guessing Krags actually stays. I don't see him taking on a tougher role, and from what I've seen, LSU has treated him well. I seems to be a good fit for both.

Ron Cooper is one that I would hate to lose, but oddly enough, I haven't heard his name mentioned for any openings. Frank Wilson will probably leave for a larger role at a smaller school at some point, hopefully not soon. I would be shocked if BG is here for more than another season.

It's not like we have a bunch of young up and comers on the coaching staff that will be getting head coaching gigs soon. The staff is loaded with well-experienced coaches that have been around and just flat out know how to coach football. Most have been given the shot at a head coaching gig before but their careers have led them here, and will stay as long as they are getting paid fairly and we are winning.

I find it really surprising that he isn't being pursued for a coordinator position this year. It's still early. I hope we hang onto him.

Has already tried and failed. I think the biggest threat we have of losing him is as a DB coach to the NFL.

Krags told Miles he wants to be here for a decade, which pretty much sounds like he wants to be here until parkinson's forces him to retire. Chief doesn't want to be anything else. BG probably has aspirations to be an OC. Ensminger probably doesn't want to go anywhere else. Stud I'm not sure about, but it seems like we have OC by committee right now anyway (CLM, BG, Krags, Stud, and even Ensminger).

I thought that he had, just couldn't remember where.

Wow! We're having a reasonably intelligent conversation with no retards or flamers. This is a rare treat on the rant!

Miss State, and he was DC at UNLV in 1990, but I'm not really sure how he did.

Like I said I think the biggest threat of losing him is at the same position to the NFL.

For the whole staff? No. No staff stays together that long these days, but I believe that we will have much more stability than most and I agree with the above on some of the key members who may be here as long as Les is.

My feelings exactly.
On Defense you have:
DC: Chavis
DB: Cooper
LB: Chavis
DL: Brick

I feel all of the above have a good chance of staying for at least a few more years.

Offense is a bit more of a crapshoot
I could see Gonzales moving upwardly to another school.
Krags isn't going anywhere if Les stays.
Stud may feel the pull of Urban at ohio state.

I really think Les, Chavis, Krags, and Stud are here for the next 2 years at least.

Our guys like Cooper, Brick, and Wilson....well thats a different story. I really hope we keep them all. Wilson man....Frank Wilson is an amazing hire.

Agree.

With every passing year the more I feel Les will find it harder and harder to leave. I think he connects emotionally to these kids and it makes it hard for him to leave. There is one job I would worry about him leaving for and that would be Dallas. (not saying it is a possibility, but he has made a few comments that show he holds Jerry Jones in high regard)

I wouldn't be surprised if Les retired here.

ETA: I look at it this way: Les could be anything from a failure to a great coach for a few years in the NFL... or he could retire at LSU anything from a great all time coach to pushing Bear Bryant legendary territory.

Frank will be here and will be OC with Krag in 2 years. His talents are so well suited here it's ridiculous. He's the world's best person and salesman, and he's selling something the marketplace (LA) already loves (LSU Football), win-win. The RB situation in LA is ideal, LA has an unlimited reservoir of talented ballcarriers. Frank selling kids on LSU in NOLA is like having Billy Mays sell water in the desert. Just too perfect a fit.

Chavis is an awesome coach. Great at firing guys up. I couldn't see his personality fitting as a HC, he's a tad gruff, but he's the prototype for a driven, tough DC. I think he's a loyal guy, and respects Miles. I don't think he'd want or would do well with a HC role. He'll continue to be the country's greatest DC. I only hope that the Redskins or someone don't offer him 1.5 mil a year to DC. He's that good and worth it.

Krag is no risk to bail. It's just how long he mentally and physically can hold up. Pray for him, but he's a strong man and will do tremendously well working with QBs as long as he can. Krag's so good he fooled the NFL into taking Brian Brohm in the second round. He knows QBs.

Coop is a boss. He was already a HC at Louisville and DC at SCar and Miss St. I think he's awesome at what he does, and he will stay.

I think Stud will leave in a year or so, but we have Wilkerson and Miles who specialize in O-Line play. I think BG will leave shortly also, but with Krag and Frank it won't be a loss. The opening could be used to rehire Porter. We would CRUSH recruiting then. Porter in East Texas and Memphis, Frank in the boot = multiple championships.

We have a great staff of talented professionals and quality people. It's a great time to be a Tiger.

Any possibility of Larry Porter being brought back in some capacity?
