It is interesting that such high and mighty comments like "grossly unfair" and "premature and irresponsible" came from Alleva, who basically milked LSU for more money over the summer by making Tennessee believe he really wanted its athletic director's job. That's what the Tennessee people say.

what a douche

In his defense Alleva did come off as a scum bag in that deal.

There's nothing wrong with GG's article, it has kernels of truth in it and takes both sides of the argument, it just comes across as a form of douchebaggery, rather than genuine reporting.

I read it and GG is stupid. He wrote the whole article basically to say see Alleva, I was right and you were wrong. They both are right. Alleva is saying that it is distasteful to report on these kids grades when you don't actually know or have the facts.

I don't generally agree with all of the Guilbeau hate, but that is a shitty article. He sounds hurt that Alleva questioned his original article, which was equally shitty. What kind of journalist writes about stuff that "may" happen. That's wishy-washy and weak.

Comparing Alleva's professional flirtation with Tennessee to the academic privacy of a college student? Very poor.

Glenn wrote an article about Lee's playing time that this too liked so now Glenn is a great guy.

Never mind the hundreds of negative articles on LSU that Guilbeau has done over the years.

As soon as I read that paragraph re: Alleva, I thought finally Guilbeau and the Rant agrees on something - Alleva.

Guess I was wrong.

Guilbeau aside, Alleva needs to stop the constant letter writing. Seems anytime someone farts he's out with some letter. Media Relations 101: the best way to discredit or kill a story is to ignore it. But writing a memo on it is about the dumbest move he made, especially if there was some truth (as it appears now) to the stories. Guilbeau's doing his job.

FIFY

If your job was to get attention for you company and every day you put out a shite article that thousands of morons circulated around a website for thousands of other morons to read .... you would be handsomely compensated.

There is too something wrong with it.

If these issues are "not news", as GG points out himself, why print them. GG uses anything in can as a platform to print negatively about LSU. I understand that's his MO, but it's kind of like my parents used to preach to me - a person who can not speak without using profanity only displays his/her own lack of vocabulary. GG is not capable of "genuine reporting" so he resorts to this kind of yellow journalism.

The main issue I have is his own dishonesty in the article when he implies that all the previous reports were basically correct because it is almost always the case that some students "may" find themselves in difficulty academically at this time of year. The problem is that the previous reports were all in relation to eligibility for the SECCG - and that is what Alleva commented about - not the BCSCG.

GG conveniently left that part out!

FWIW I disagree - he was defending his student athletes.

Miles' candid, realistic and honest comments make Alleva's emotional statement of Nov. 30 look foolish.

Wasn't Guilbeau accusing Les Miles of the exact opposite in his other articles?
