Half the time when the ball is snapped my DE moves away from the ball even if I am controlling him. Is there a way to stop this?

Stop calling plays where your DE drops back into zone coverage.

I have noticed this too. The other day I was playing controlling the DE. When the ball was snapped the DE I was controlling ran straight to the slot receiver and was blocked by the slot received. I could not control the DE or break away from the block until the RB ran past me.

You guys are either running DE contain or a zone blitz. Only time I have problems with my DE is on draw plays.
