Does this give the hunter a real advantage in the field or is it just a preference? Personally I like the all black look.

I mean it breaks up the shotgun, so I guess it does. But I don't think it honestly makes that big of a difference. Mine is camo'd just bc that's what my dad bought when he got it for me (best birthday present ever ). I prefer the look of a gun with some nice wood and blued barrel though.

This. My duck / turkey gun is synthetic, but my favorite guns are all wooden stocks. Cant beat an older gun with nice checkering on the stock

IT helps you lose you gun when you put it on the ground to pee. But i like it.

No advantage at all. It just looks badass IMO.

ETA: I paint up for ever hunt, so you could say I'm a big fan of the "stealthiness" of it.

My main reason for reading this site is to get a laugh from the Rant after a long day After that, good info on here. Lastly, never really feel the need. Guess I need to get my average up

For most hunting it doesn't matter. Turkey hunting I'm not sure though.

I have camo on my super vinci but not my SBE2 it's just black.

some would say for predator hunting it is useful too.

I got by benelli duck gun in camo because it adds another layer of rust protection. I do wish it would warm up quicker to the touch though.

It's an extra barrier against rust on the exterior

I think turkey is the only time it will really matter. Other than that it is just for looks. I love wood on a gun, much warmer on the hands. My duck gun is wood and looks beat all to hell. I kind of like it that way. I have some guns that are pretty but just one look at that gun and you know what it is used for.

I think it helps with the ducks because it eliminates reflection. Also, I dont feel as bad when I drop the SOB in the mud scratch the hell out of it.
My nice wood stock guns, I feel bad every time they get a little ding

It's much more difficult to notice scratches and dings on a camo gun.

1,000,000% this

It also looks better to me. Though I think taking a camoflage gun to shot something like pheasants would look weird.

For duck. Not really.

For turkey. Definitely!
