The main reason that OSU will be the new BCS #2 tonight.

A rematch between 2 teams from the same conference for the BCS Championship is fine, as long as it is virtually inarguable that the team that did not win that conference's championship is the only reasonable choice to be ranked in the #2 slot by the voters in the final BCS polls.
That would have been the case, had OKLA beat Okie State last night, as all the pundits expected.
But after the beatdown of the Sooners by the Cowboys, there is now an alternate #2 team to select, and a rematch is no longer the only reasonable course of action.
The majority of the voters will avoid a rematch, when offered another reasonable choice.
Okie State played their way into the BCS Title Game last night, and a majority of the voters will reward them.
It is actually a much easier choice than voting for a single-conference title game.
But until Okie State shocked OKLA, the pundits and the national TV audience last night, the BCS voters had no reasonable alternative to an LSU-Bama rematch.
Congrats to the Cowboys!
See y'all in New Orleans.

you realize the opinions dont mean shite at this point, unless you are LSUmatt and understand the stats there is no point in posting this stuff..

LSU v OSU - will prove something
LSU v Bama 2 - will prove nothing
LSU v Bama 2 - will prove nothing

So what your saying is, everyone that works at BCS headquarters must be LSUmatt?

Alabama is already in.

Wow. What a needlessly ugly post.

LSUmatt provides analysis on numbers.
This person just said "Oh i know the voters will choose osu, when 2/2 polls released, NEITHER have chosen osu"

makes sense, is very reasonable,
that's why won't happen this process is flawed.
bama and okie play off in sugar bowl then winner takes on tigers next week for championship game.that would settle dispute of course won't happen.

Im sorry. But I dont agree with this whole conference championship thing.
The purpose of the BCS is to put the 2 BEST TEAMS in the NC game.
In my mind thats Bama and LSU.
Ive asked this question over and over again the last couple of weeks and I will ask again.
Name me 1 team in the top 25 Alabama wouldnt be favored over on a neutral field site. 1 TEAM.
If Bama and Oke St played Bama would crush them. They would disrupt and shut down their 1 dimensional offense and Trent Richardson would just pound them into submission. It would be a slow painful death similarly to what they did to Auburn.
Again, the 2 BEST TEAMS should play for the national championships. Not 2 conference championship teams who are good. 2 BEST TEAMS PERIOD.

STFU, this thread isn't for your meaningless opinion.

If Oklahoma State would have barely won against Iowa State in OT, does that change your opinion on whether or not they could hang with 'Bama?

Favoring doesn't mean shite. Gotta let the teams play.
Reasons for Alabama: Their only loss is to #1 LSU at home.
Reasons for OSU: Their only loss was because of a miscalled field goal that resulted in a 2OT loss on the road.
They have played more Top 30 and Top 50 teams
They have played more teams with winning records
So why should Bama go again? I am a huge LSU fan, but take off your damn SEC glasses and see this for what it is.

I would rather play Bama. It would make a NC win that more meaningful. That said, call me crazy but, I think OSU pulls it off tonight.
Either way... This team is ready.

Agreed, it was already mentioned that bama would hold their weight in computers, but the human element would be the difference maker. It seems like it's working.
Posted on 12/4/11 at 12:48 pm to natethegreat
don't make a difference as long as we kick the arse of whoever is number two. Lsu has no say so who is the opponent. tigers job is to beat whoever the gurus put up against us. we do that and it doesn't make a difference what any one else says.
