For those of you who want a Bama rematch to quiet the Bama fans...

do you really think that will shut them up if we win AGAIN?? The only thing a rematch does besides rendering our regular season win against them meaningless is to validate their argument that they didn't play their best game against us the first time. How many other good teams that have lost in the last 20 years would have said the same thing....ALL OF THEM. At the end of the day, games are decided on the field, not in the arguments of the fan bases.

I care who we play. I believe we will beat anyone, but I've already seen us beat Bama. It was the Game of the Century, it had overwhelming buildup, and it was a brutal, stressful win. And it happened. I don't want to watch it again. Can you imagine listening to the same analyses all over again?
More than that, I'm a fan of college football in general. I like how the games are important. Conference championships are important. The whole season is on the line every Saturday. Contending teams must strive for a balance of playing a tough-enough schedule but not so tough they lose since there is little margin for error. A Bama rematch throws all that out the window. A rematch tells us the first game didn't matter. Winning the conference didn't matter. Playing a gut busting schedule was not necessary. A team's body of work does not matter. None of it matters bc special consideration is being made to get Bama into the title game, and all stats and logic will be disregarded.

quote:got to agree...if bama was to play LSU and win, LSU is 13-1 bama becomes 12-1..LSU beat bama, Bama beats LSU, ok, so who becomes National champs?..the game would be meaningless..just give the trophy to LSU..
