Thus proving the adage, "A broken clock is right twice day."

OSU has beaten 6 teams in the current top 25?

IMHO their only quality win to date is Texas.

ETA: I forgot about Baylor And how on earth is 7-5 Mizou in #25 in the BCS poll?

As I've always said, the guys who focus on the computer rankings, more often than not, under-estimate the volatility of the human vote. Ok St. is at #5 in the human polls because they haven't had the opportunity to erase the memory of the Iowa State game. They were idle, Bama played, Bama got the recognition. This week, that's reversed.

There are many voters who are looking for any excuse to avoid an all SEC title game. Ok St is their best shot, but they couldn't very well move them up last week because they didn't play. If OSU beats Oklahoma, the voters have their justification for making the move.

Also, all I hear about is the Harris poll. The coach's poll is far more biased; I see Ok St gaining at least as much ground there if not more.

Dropping the truth

quote:

PRECEDENT—Back in 2003, Oklahoma was thought to have perhaps the best college football team ever. Then they lost to Kansas State in the Big XII title game. They still got to play for the BCS championship and the outcry was so great it caused a re-tooling of the BCS formula. How can you possibly play for the championship if you don’t win your conference? That’s what virtually everyone said. In 2006, Michigan and Ohio State, both undefeated and ranked 1-2, played for the Big Ten title. OSU won, narrowly. No rematches, everyone screamed and voted Florida ahead of Michigan. We don’t know if OSU can beat Florida, the pundits said, but they’ve already beaten Michigan……hmmmmm. In 2007, a wacky one to say the least, a one-loss Georgia team was right in the hunt to play for the title. But the voters suddenly dropped Georgia a few slots in the polls on the next to last weekend. Why? They weren’t playing for the SEC title. And, how can you play for the BCS championship when you couldn’t even win your division? A two-loss LSU team, who lost their final regular season game, got to play for the title. They were, after all, a conference champion.

My thread earlier this week was pure gold.

Georgia actually had 2 losses. If they had only had 1 loss, they would have gone ahead of LSU. But, your point is well taken. The records were even, but LSU went in ahead of Georgia largely on the strength of winning the SEC.

I have been saying this all week. Bama not playing this week with Stanford, OSU and Va Tech are on Prime Time is going to give reason to enough voters to make this very interesting. Especially if Stanford and Va Tech loses. Not so fast !

I am in no way defending Bama with my previous statement.

I was just shocked to see that Okie St. has played a decent schedule. It didn't seem so throughout the season.

Looking at who has the best resume / best lost kind of sucks all together. I just want LSU to beat UGA and I could care less who we play in New Orleans.

I Stoped reading when he said chaimpains and strongest conference, would someone please get a clue, no dr, but the Reason OS scores so much is because of the weak comp. It's the same old thing every year, Sooners,USC, Ohio St, and so on, then we get to the NC and same old thing, sec wins. Like the old goofy saying don't hate the player hate the game, don't hate the sec hate the game.
