There's a couple of Oregon fans throwing out rumors on their message boards that Chip Kelly might be headed to Penn State. He's originally from that general area, so I guess there's a small chance, but I highly doubt it. Has anybody else heard anything along these lines?

He's from New Hampshire. I don't know of any connections he has to Penn State.

I don't think Phil Knight would let anybody outbid him for Kelly.

That's probably a good thing for PSU. They are a lot like Alabama was pre-Saban with a "Good Ole Boy" network going and that seems to be the reason for the cover up for Sandusky.

Wouldn't Penn State kind of want to wait and see if anything comes of the Lyles investigation?

think Kelly might be running away from that? I never thought it was that serious.

Nah....I've always thought if he went back east it would be to a major program but considering what PSU has been going through I never really considered him going. Hadn't even thought about it tbh.

I don't think PSU can afford the risk. Kelly is a great coach but he has unsettled issues and PSU can't risk it.

All I know is that Oregon is possession of an LOI and that the NCAA has never been consistent in anything they have ever done. No one can be sure nothing major happens when the NCAA is looking. Seastrunk goes half way across the country with no ties to Oregon other than Lyles?

Kelly is a good coach, but does any one else see this potentially being a Rich Rod type situation? Seems that gimmicky offense didn't work well in the Big 10 for RR and may be the same for Kelly. Just a bad fit...

FWIW- I don't think Mullen will last 4 years there.

He isn't the first kid to want to experience life in a different part of the country in college or for sports.....is he?

His offense was too bad but his d was lousy. He suffered more because of the Michigan culture then he did his offense. Round Peg, square hole.

I don't see this as a good fit for PSU.

I didnt' say it was it. I guess every kid who doesn't play locally was had because of backdoor deals then. He wasn't the first kid to come to Oregon from Texas. Most of the guys had no experience with Lyles. Oregon state has a number of kids from Texas too.....guess they're dirty as well.
