Long story short, I will be slug hunting this weekend. I hunt in Maryland on public land and the state does not allow you to use buckshot. I bought some rifled slugs for my benelli nova pump shotgun with a modified choke that I use to duck hunt. I will just be using open sites with no scope. Will this gun be OK or do I have to buy a special barrel for it? I just don't want the barell flowering out at the end or something messing up. 2 and 3/4 inch BTW

Get a rifled choke tube and some clamp on sights an sight it in. That's about the best you can do in a hurry without buying a rifled barrel.

You're good with what you got. How far are your shooting lanes?

If you don't buy a new choke, put in your improved cylinder instead of modified. That's the one Benelli says to use with slugs. I looked it up this weekend (I shoot a supernova)

Just make sure you can hit a paper plate at 75 yards with it and keep your shots close. Like boats said, use an improved cylinder if you have one, but I strongly recommend buying a rifled choke tube. It makes a difference.
