As much as I disagree with Bama backing into the MNC and all of the BCS logic that goes out of the window with a rematch, we have to play them or the media will flush our title down the toilet like they have done with 2003 (USC) and 2007 (2 losses). If we don't play Bama in this game, they will always bring up the fact that Bama didn't get a shot at a rematch (even though we already beat them).

I do not want a rematch because LSU has more to lose, but it may just have to be.

I don't give a shite who we play we will win the title, but I think it sucks that they can't win their conference but can play for the tiltle while OK St will win their conference and VT will play a conference championship and win and only have 1 loss. If Bama anted to be their they shoulda took care of buisness like us

Why? I can hear it already. Any time they mention 2003 or 2007 it has to be followed with some qualifying statement alluding to some reason why LSU was undeserving. I know I'm not imagining this.

No, they wouldn't.

No one has a claim to the title but us if we win in that game. Not one other team. Not even the biggest homer of Alabama could deny that.

But I do think it should be Bama, as they are head and shoulders the second best team.

Is it fair? Sure it is. You play the regular season to be 1 or 2 going into the second week of December. Which one you are then doesn't matter. That's the system we have.

There is no one that can play with us except Bama. Sucks for us, yes, but it is fair.

I totally agree and DON'T want a rematch. I'm just saying it has to be that way or we will never hear the end of it.

I understand your argument, but . . . bullshite. If we play and defeat any other team in the BCSNCG and some dumbass brings up 'Bama they're a fool. We played them and we won on their home field.

I say we play them, shut them up, and Saban, and show the world that LSU is the better team...."again", and then nobody will every have to back into anything.

It's not right, and I'm sure that the same pundits that are lobbying for Bama would NOT be lobbying for LSU if we'd lost to them and won out, because they (Bama) would be playing in the SEC Championship game.

That is an assumption based on stats and a loss by Alabama to LSU. The only thing that can be proven is that LSU > Bama, as was settled on the field. I'm amazed how confident everyone seems to be that Alabama is somehow magically entrenchted at number 2. The best thing they have going for them is that they managed to play LSU pretty close while still losing. Other than that, they've played a mediocre schedule and taken advantage of a down SEC. I just find it interesting that there is a strong possibility that several other one loss teams, some of them conference champions, may get passed over for the opportunity on the field to prove themselves against LSU because Alabama managed to keep the "Game of the Century" close.

No, it HAS to be whoever is number 1 and 2 in the BCS (period). Since when is it LSU's job to placate another team because they bitch? Do we agree cause they say its 'not fair'? frick FAIR.....it is what it is.
Let the chips fall where they may. If its Bama, so be it. If not, let it go.
Let 'er rip and play the game.

So nobody else agrees that if we play OSU or VT that we'll hear the following statement:

"LSU won the 2011 national championship, but Bama was probably just as good and didn't get a chance to play for the title."

I'm not debating the right or wrong in regards to a rematch, I'm saying that we won't get the proper respect unless we play Bama.

They did have a chance to play for it. It was settled on the field that LSU > Bama. I think a re-match leaves more speculation as it excludes the rest of the field.

I agree, but apparently that doesn't matter or Bama wouldn't be in the picture right now, right?

Don't you remember how in 2007 Miles got us into the BCSCG by selling us as the team who hadn't lost in regulation? Well, Alabama hasn't lost in regulation. Everyone else, excepting Houston, has. And wouldn't it be great to beat Saban and Alabama again and show them the first time was real? The pall that would come over Alabama, the depression, the rising sales of Prozac. It would be better even than the first time.

Nope. Statement won't be heard.

Bama should play us, as they are the second best team in the nation. But they aren't owed a rematch. But they'll get it, and they will have earned it.

As much as it sucks, Bama is the next best team. You play the season to be 1 OR 2 in December, it doesn't matter which one. It just so happened that we happened to have already played the number 2 team.

The regular season is a playoff, and no one else deserves to play us except Bama.

They did get a chance..And lost on Nov 5th in their backyard. Seems like many folks including most Bama fans keep forgetting this little stat.
