What do people think about Gary Danielson’s suggestion of a split title?

In the 4Q with 6:47 left in the Arky game Gary D said that if LSU beats Georgia and then have to face Bama again in the BCS…That LSU and Bama should only be playing for the crystal and that LSU should be crowned the regular season champs (given the AP) regardless of the outcome of the rematch with Bama.

I hate the idea. I want the game for all or nothing if there is a rematch. I don’t like Bama getting another shot because they lost and did not win the conference. However, the BCS system is what we have. I never liked the idea of OU getting to play for it all in ’03 when they didn’t win their conference and I never believed we split anything with USCw even though the AP voted for them. I thought it was a big joke when USCw held their AP celebration. It is a shame that this is the system the Universities want, but I guess it is generating the cash they need.

I was thinking kind of the same thing. I dont like teams "sharing" the national title... BUT if Bama somehow manages to beat LSU in the BCSNCG by a narrow margin similar to Nov 5, it would be interesting to see if people think that LSU deserves a share of the title because Bama and LSU split the series between them evenly.

Yeah, totally agree. In my view, the AP hasn't had any legitimacy since they dropped out of the BCS. Not that the BCS is the greatest system but it's what the teams in the NCAA have agreed to do. That's the only championship that carries any legitimacy to me.

While I agree with the sentiment, one shouldn't get into the business of changing the rules midstream.
