Skyrim Alchemy Guide

I've been looking for a good guide and pretty much all of them are confusing as hell.
Potions are the easiest way to make MASSIVE money. Well, they would be if any darn merchant had more than a few coins.
You gain more XP by making potions that cost the most. Cheap potions yield next to nothing. I've been looking for a list of expensive potions and here is one I found.
Giant toe and wheat - Most expensive potion £2615
Giant toe and Blue mountain flow - same potion slightly less expensive
Bee + Fly Amanita + troll fat
Chourus Eggs + Vampire Dust - £1121
Garlic and slaughter fish - £1014
Frost Mirriam - Purple Mountain Flower - £1014
Ice Wraith Teeth = Vampire Dust -£1143
Briar Heart / Canis Root / Imp Stool - Any combo of 2 £954, Paralysis
Blue Butterfly wing & Springgon Sap - £947
Glow Dust + Spriggon Sap - £899
Glow Dust + hanging Moss - £1222
Salt & Deathbell ( or River Betty) - £828 Slow
Thistle Branch & Sloughterfish Scales - £600
Juniper Berries + Skeever Tail - £539
Tundra Cotton & Void Salts - £529
Blue Dartwing & Orange Dartwing - £506
Ectoplasm & Red Mountain Flower £454
Tip 1
Always check merchant apparel until you find something with Alchemy boost then disenchant it and make a set with the maximum enchant boost you can make. You can enchant head, neck, ring and arm slots with alchemy boost. Enchant on any of these items. They can be cheap items. The enchant is the same for an iron helm as it is on a daedric helm.
Tip 2
Get the bonus by visiting the Lovers Stone. This gives a 15% bonus to all skill XP.
Tip 3
BUY EVERY INGREDIENT EVERYWHERE. Every single time you enter a city for a quest, always stop off at the potion shop.
TIP 4
Keep lots of potions in your inventory to sell back to the store after buying the ingredient. Eventually, you will always get all of your money back and have 100s of leftover potions. Store some in your homes because they start to weigh you down, BUT ALWAYS keep enough to sell back to get your money back.
Tip 5
You can TRAIN your alchemy up to 75 but only 5 alchemy levels per character level at the potion store in whiterun. (MAKE SURE you have lots of potions to sell back to her to get your training money back. Especially later levels because she will have up to 9 to 10k gold.
Tip 6
It is a bit boring but just hop clockwise from city to city buying up all the ingredients from the stores until out of cash, then go make potions and do it all over again.
Tip 7
All of the above ingredients can be purchased at Whiterun and the Dark Brotherhood Alchemist. I haven't started the Dark Brotherhood yet but I've been hoping to all the other stores.
Tip 8
Make sure you use your perks on making the potions stronger. That increases the price thus making it level faster.
I found this guide today and in a very short time went from 70s to 90s making the EXPENSIVE potions.
More good potions here.

Boom! 100!
Using those two lists you can level Alchemy very fast once you hit the stores.

I love the peanut gallery chiming in on a game they aren't playing which is a shame because it is one of the deepest greatest games ever created.
Go back to shooting the same sniper 200 times.

I picked this game up on a whim. Didn't think I'd like it, but wanted to give it a shot after seeing a few youtube videos, plus I was bored one night. Best video game decision ever.

The beauty of this game is that it is single player, so you can choose whether or not you want to min-max and grind. Personally, I prefer to do the quests and let all the extra stuff fall where it may.

Giant toe and wheat huh? I may have some of that.

I play this game and that list confused the shite out of me. I do have a bunch of those items though.

Not sure why it is confusing since all but one of the potions is only 2 ingredients.
The higher the monetary value the more XP you get.
Fairly simple concept. The values will of course be different depending on perks and alch level, but if you make those potions you will level pretty fast. I went from 70 to 100 way faster than 1-70 because I found that list.

I have found "Slow" potions are great, they give good exp and the ingredients are pretty common.

Yeah. Salt is all over the place and deathbell is pretty common and easy to spot being bright purple. deathbell is also pretty common at all of the ingredient stores.

I make the rounds to the 8 stores I know of, and by the time I am done the stores are mostly restocked.
Posted on 12/3/11 at 1:33 pm to DoUrden
If you do a clockwise rotation, I would think they would all be restocked. It takes more than 24 hours so travel from one side of the map to the other so I would think hitting all 8 cities, they would always be restocked.
I need to make some good health pots now that I am using them up because of the 0% resistance bug.
