I read this idea by houstontiger and another poster in the other thread about DandyDon being in his seriously ill condition. I personally wish that would happen. Like many others that commented in the thread, his site is always first to be visited every day (no disrespect, TD -- yours gets most of my time).

I would hope someone in a strong enough position within the LSU program -- someone who knows Dandy Don personally and appreciates his efforts through all these years -- could somehow demonstrate that appreciation on behalf of TigerNation.

This is a special season -- one in which our LSU football team is stronger than it's probably ever been. Very good chance of being an undefeated national champion and one of the best teams ever fielded. All this in the twilight of his life, by his own admission.

it wont happen, but it should. and duck cause the rant loves to hate on the old dandy one.

he is a great tiger. i remember the day i was told about dandy don's site in 1999. i would say that about 90% of my days since then has started at dandydon.com.

No, why would they? I feel sad for the guy and his family that he is ill and nearing his end, but why would LSU give a guy that made a website and "collected donations" for it at the game? Point being what does it honestly have to do with LSU athletics outside of he was a fan that put together a website?

Then let those fans do something for him. The University and Athletic Department shouldn't.

Not until he's dead. I love The Dandy One and he himself would tell you that a tribute to him at Tiger Stadium would be too much. I seriously hope that they do something nice for the Arkansas player that died this week.

I had sent an email to the LSU Athletic Dept asking that he be considered for acknowledgement, given all the positive publicity he has provided for LSU, but haven't heard a peep.

Sure wish they would consider something...

what the frick is your problem dude? Many fans start their day by reading DD and have for years. Dandy Don is a great LSU fan, he bleeds purple and golde. He is a war hero, a Louisiana icon, and a great American.

It goes alot further than this. Alot of ppl will have forgotten this, but when Nick Saban first came to LSU and was in the first few years of recruiting. He would sometimes call Dandy Don to ask about a player who they might have interest in because of his close relationships with the high school communities. I am not saying that LSU should or shouldn't acknowledge him. But to say he is simply a guy who started a website is doing a huge disservice. DD might be the most knowledgeable person about Louisiana high school football and players in history.

While certainly he is a great Tiger fan, this probably would not be done.

I wish they would acknowledge him somehow myself. His site was first LSU site I found in the 90's. Used to read him every day. Great guy and deserves it.
