So after we beat arky, why should we risk injuries to our starters in the Sec championship game. It would mainly be just a money making game for the conference and we would have bigger fish to fry anyway. It would be a shame to have a couple of difference makers injured in a meaningless game.

I don't think it's meaningless if it gets us an SEC championship as well as keeps us on the path of an undefeated season. The players have a month to rest up before the NC game. If a guy gets hurt b/c we played this game then that's just how it goes. On a side note, I do think it's completely unfair if we sustain a major injury that game while bama sits at home watching TV and they get to play in the NC.

The BCS championship is 5 weeks after that game. Rest for what?

So what exactly is this loophole that allows 3 teams from the same conference to BCS bowls?

if uga wins the SEC championship game, and lsu and bama are still #1 & #2 in the BCS standings, the SEC will have 3 BCS teams.

I know - millions of extra $ to the SEC.

If the SEC knew for a fact that LSU would fall no lower than 2 with a loss in the SECCG...

The rule is that 3 teams can go if #1 and #2 in the BCS are NOT the conference champion. UGA would go to the Sugar Bowl. LSU and Bama would go to the NCG.

Because the OSU-OU game is after the SECCG, there's no way to guarantee LSU at #2 though.

I have a feeling that doing the 'wave' is your idea of fun.

Incredible, we have sooo many SEC championships that we want to rest starters for a game 5 weeks away.

Real men of genius.

Just to clarify my reply. I am for winning against UGA and not resting players.

Besides all the good points above, playing the SEC Championship is an advantage - a huge one. Bama is going to be sitting for six weeks which is way too long to maintain sharpness. We'll be sitting five weeks - too long, but not as bad as Bama. And if we lose? We're still in.

What a fool Miles would look to be to give up an opportunity to win the SEC to rest his players for a game that is more than a month away. If LSU were to lose the BCS CG, can you imagine the outcry if he also didn't win the SEC because he was resting his players?

Fortunately, he isn't a fool.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! This season is way too special to have that tarnish on it. Play to win 'em all.

+1

Does anyone not remember how tOSU fans complained because they had a longer layoff before the game in 2007?
