They are definitely up there.

Not just raw talent, but sheer mentality and how they don't get shaken up no matter what.

They won't be considered as such by the pundits because of mediocre QB play though.

Behind 01 Miami and 95 Nebraska

The rest are debatable.

Tough to say with UF, Tenn, and Au being so bad this year. It will be up there.

If Randle sticks around.....we may very well beat out 01 Miami next year though.

No way to honestly say...

Would they be considered one of the greatest teams ever - probably.

But the best ever?

No way to ever really know that IMO...

Robert Smith would still say Alabama is better.

I would put 1995 Nebraska and 2000 Miami up there. No wrong answer, it's impossible to compare. I think this team would beat Nebraska because of the speed we have on defense to beat the option. I think this team would lose to Miami due to the balance they possessed at every skilled position. No one knows, though!

Without a doubt.

By far the best team in LSU history.

We'd have a damn strong case!!

Has anybody ever beaten as many ranked opponents in a single season?

Why? Did they beat #2, #2, #3, #9, #14 and #23 as LSU will have to? No, they didn't.

For the love of God folks....don't use the "ranking when we played them" mindset.

It blows my mind how many people actually consider a team top 5 or top 10 just because they were ranked there when we played them...even though that ranking was a product of inflated preseason rank and their season crashed after that.

And back to the point....what makes the GOAT arguments so hard is that you can't disqualify Miami and Nebraska just because of their schedules.

Just because they didn't doesn't mean they couldn't

don't know about the greatest team of all time, but maybe the most impressive season of all time, all things considered.

For the love of God, it's not. Those are the current rankings.
