When all you have left to bitch about is Women's sports, it's a damn good day to be a Tiger.

The obvious answer is yes. The "old fella" didn't recruit very well, but he took over in a bad situation. I do not see any top talent, that includes Barrett, on the team. Hopefully, our coach can recruit. At least she looks good.

Looks like another long season. This team is in desperate need of a true pt gd who can run the team and score when needed. Lazyness is what causes most of the turnovers and the turnovers are many. They don't get key rebounds because they stand and watch the ball like spectators instead of reacting and trying to get rebounds. Can't say really how bad they will be or if they have the "want" to improve. We'll see.

ONe thing I do know is that the WBB team has a great coach and staff, and whatever it takes to bring the team up to speed, they can definitely handle the job. They will recruit because the head coach knows how to evaluate talent. Now Van, on the other hand, was just too old. He was brought in to stabilize a situation and he was left on the bench too long.

The positive spin about Van's long stay is that LSU got a great coach who will bring them back to the top.

This. He was fine as a short-term stabilizer and is a competent coach but should have been a 2-year hire at best due to recruiting. Pokey was a lights out recruiter who apparently had problems with, uh, enticing the recruits.

With any luck the new coach will improve on both counts. The position should be an opportunity for both her and the program, which is an excellent fit.

I was watching the game tonight and I was amazed how bad they looked. A non-ranked opponent at home and we can't get 50? if Northwestern had not blown a few easy layups it would not have been close. Seems like there's a long way to go, but Caldwell can do it.

Let's not be so pre-mature in judging this team. Caldwell has a good track record & I think this team is on the way up. And even if the record isn't that outstanding this season, maybe that will discourage Tennessee from considering Caldwell as a possible successor to Summitt, whose health may cause her to retire after this season.
