Yesterday I had to go to Shrevport. I saw 4 dead bears along side the road all between Alexandria and Shrevport. All black bears. Is this common? Could this be because of hunters stirring in the woods this past weekend?

Are you sure about that? I drive I49 regularly and have never seen a dead bear.

Did you stop and look at them? We had a report of a dead bear on the side of the road by my camp a few years ago and it turned out to be a hog. Considering how low the bear population is in La this would have made headlines across the state.

There is a large on Southbound just south of the 124 mile marker, and a much smaller on the little overpass just south of that one.

I've honestly never seen a bear before, and didn't get out of the car but the hair was at least 4 inches long and we got a pretty good look at very large paws

Alx, you live nearby. Please initiate an investigation immediately and report to the OB by 1700 hours.

If I knew where that mile marker was, I'd consider a long lunch.

Mung, what you doing for lunch?

Is tigerfoot on the road?

I hate to pile one, but my guess is it would be hogs and/or trash bags. I will not rule out the possibility that they were all black panthers because this state is filled to bursting with them. Hell, I usually have to kick a couple out of my stand when I got hunting.

The statistical possibility of that many bears being near the interstate is quite low, add to the fact that they had been hit and killed by a car and all fell within sight of the roadway leads me to believe that it's not bears.

I would believe this would be all over the news if there were dead bears alongside the interstate.

I'm going see if I can find something.

I hunt that area and I would be dumbfounded if this were true. I'll call a buddy and get scoop.

I could see if this were HWY 65, but I-49? NFW.
