Any true boxing fans here?

I find MMA entertaining when they're standing but honestly I get bored when they're on the ground... I wouldnt mind seeing an upright version of that sport.
Any way, do you think boxing will ever make a comeback or has mma and poor organizational structure bascially ko'd boxing as we know/knew it?
Im sure im in the minority but I would rather watch a bigtime boxing match over a UFC title fight any day of the week.

Boxing fan here. Don't watch either MMA or UFC.
I believe boxing is down because there are no great heavyweight boxers nowadays. Once somebody emerges, it'll get the wheels rolling.

Much much more of a boxing fan, while I dont know how to score a fight, or know the techniques, I find a good boxing match much more entertaining. I hope it will come back, but it looks like this next generation is more into MMA.

Boxing will probably never be the same. The main reason is parents dont steer there kids toward boxing anymore. Unlike MMA it takes years to perfect boxing. You just cant jump into it at 15 and become great at it. Boxing is alot of hard work and dedication and most kids these days just dont wanna do the work. Instead MMA is the easier alternative and has become more popular. But to me boxing takes more skill and discipline. Anybody can fight/grapple but not many can stand toe to toe and box.

Boxing is pretty much down and out in today's age. MMA brings more excitement to viewers, More blood/quicker KOs. I enjoy both sports but in 12 years boxing will be a afterthought. I would imagine the biggest downfall of the sport tho is the corruptness of promoters. Everyone sticking their hand out wanting a piece of the pie has hurt the sport. The only two fights I could see taking boxing off life support would be Mayweather vs Pacquiao or if the Klitschko brother's would man up and fight.

Does anyone know if amateur boxing and/or golden gloves is still as popular? I guess not, those programs fed the pro ranks.

No, boxing will never make it back to where it once was. Boxing essentially killed itself, but mma is in the process of delivering the final blow.

lolz. Floyd Mayweather got over $50 mil to fight Victor Ortiz. what's the most a UFC fighter has ever made in a year? well.. Tito Ortiz is up to $1.4 million thus far in 2011. that's laughable.

Quick fun fact for Rohan tMMA hater. The UFC put on this silly little fight on Fox the other weekend (the first of many more to come). This silly little fight was not part of a full card that was shown on tv, it was only one fight shown on Fox. This one fight only lasted 60 seconds, yet more viewers tuned in during those 60 seconds than the World Series Game 7 ever thought about having.

and since money seems to be your main arguing point as to why boxing > mma.....
The UFC (only one organization mind you), has produced over 40 millionaires over the past 5 years. Has boxing done that?

Actually, top Mma guys also get a cut of the PPV sales
Someone like GSP gets 250k to fight, 150k win bonus, and 1$ for every PPV buy up to 500k, and 1.25$ or 1.50$ for everything over 500k
So he pulls about $1.7M a fight. Nothing Like top boxing of course, but some guys do make pretty good money.
And on the lower and mid level, the money is about the same.
Also just to clarify in case
Mma is the sport, UFC is a league. Like football and NFL
ETA, I am a huge boxing fan and would love to see a return to the glory years. At least some more interesting bouts.
