Job interview

So here is a little background. I've never actually been on a job interview. I have worked in construction(metal buildings & metal roofing) for 18 years and have went from the bottom to supervising multiple crews. With that said I worked for one company for 14 of those years and I moved on because of the direction they were going(that company actually just went bankrupt).
Anyway I have my 1st interview ever in about a week with a company called Intralox. Don't really know what to expect as I have never done anything other than construction and don't even know if it's something that I would actually want to do, but I think it might be time to try something new.

My bad. I guess I'm just really nervous about the whole process. Changing jobs has never been my thing. Just don't really know what to expect.

Just be prepared to explain both positive and negative experiences in your life. Negative being opportunities that you learned from. Just be honest and you will be fine.

-Be positive
-Talk about your management of multiple crews and how you deal with multiple personalities
-Reliability: You worked for a company for 14 years which in this day in age is hard to come by. Your dependable and loyal
-Work ethic- You worked your way up from the bottom- talk about how you are prepared to work your butt off for Intralox
-Negativity- Never bad mouth your last job or their current financial situation. No one wants to work with some who complains or talks negatively.
-Confident- Always be confident like your the only one for the job without being to cocky.
-Questions- write down a ton of questions before you go in regards to advancement, job culture, management, and work load. Be careful to not bring up pay in the interview. If things go well they will bring it up.
-Reference letter- try to get a reference letter or two incase they ask for one.
-Resume- Try to get someone to look over this for you. Bring 3
copies with you
-Dress - Wear the appropriate attire
-Ask for the job- This is your job! If you want the job at the end of the interview let them know it. You should ask what the next step in the process is and how long you should wait before following up with them.
-Thank you note- Hand write a thank you note for the person that interviewed you. In the card write how much you appreciate the opportunity and how eager you are to hear from Intralox. Thank them for their time and consideration. Do this before you go and give it to the receptionist after the interview if the interview went well.
Go on as many interviews as you can. Practice makes perfect. Don't be scared of interviews. These people in some cases may be hungrier to find someone to the fill position then you are to find a job.

Fair enough. It can be a bit nerve-wracking.
Expect that you may or may not make it - a lot depends on things out of your control.

Learn as much as you can about the job and company. "what do you know about us, and why do you think you would be a good fit for this position?" are pretty common interview questions. At the end of the interview they may ask if there is anything you would like to know, have a few questions ready.

Wear a suit, bring a few copies of your resume, and be 10-20 minutes early. All of the above info is pretty spot on as well. Good luck.
