This is a response I got from a Bama fan acquaintance of mine today. He fed me the usual "awww, well Alabama beat themselves" bull#^$*, so I responded by saying
quote:

it's clear that the teams were identical on offense and defense. Everyone knew the game would come down to special teams, which it did, and guess who was better???? LSU...Boom!!

This is how he proceeds to respond...

quote:

...the teams were not identical on offense and defense. The teams had nearly identical numbers in rushing (LSU averaged 3.6 yards per rush, Alabama averaged 3.1 yards per rush) but Alabama had more than double the passing yards that LSU had. Offense goes to Alabama. On defense LSU was close to Alabama but Alabama was better. Alabama had drives stopped because of penalties that set them back and missed calls by officials. Reid's "interception" was utter garbage. Williams clearly had possession when he hit the ground. That's called a catch, not an interception. If that play hadn't been miscalled then Alabama would have a 1st down at the 1 and they'd have punched it in for a TD. Alabama also dropped two passes in the endzone that should have been TDs. LSU never got close to scoring in regulation. Alabama had what should have been 3 TDs. Therefore Alabama's defense was better. Special teams goes to LSU. No duh. Cade Foster is an awful kicker and Saban knew that. Putting him out there was a mistake.

I would try to make him mad, waiting for him to finish his explanation and then asking if he could explain it to you again.

Well ... the gump has all that and 6 points to live with until next November.

We have 9 points to live with till then. 9 points is more than 6 points—even, I believe, in Alabama.

I live in Columbus, MS, and it's terrible here, too. The bandwagoners here are beyond ridiculous. Half of the fans didn't graduate HS and the other half couldn't find Tuscaloosa on a map.

Yeah, everyone one of my friends that I've talked to has blamed him, but what really gets me though is all of them calling Reid's INT garbage...I mean...really???

What it really came down to was coaching.

Alabama logic:
"Our team is better than LSU. LSU didn't beat us. We just beat our selves."

So why would a team do that? Isn't that a just little stupid?

"Hey ya'll look at me. I'm gonna lose on purpose."

It awful. But not today!!

Most of what i have heard today -- They beat themselves we didnt beat them. They are the better team and if they played us again they would beat us, etc etc. That game was a fluke. Saban was stupid and wont make the same mistakes again. If they had a kicker etc etc

Most of the people I work with hate Auburn or Bama more than they hate LSU. I dont mind talking to them about football.
Now going out to eat or to a bar, etc and wearing my LSU gear can get stupid sometimes. I have been hearing how Bama is gonna whip our arse and how Richardson is going to run all over us for the past month. Today all I am hearing is how there will be a rematch in the title game.

Its great to be a Tiger anywhere but for those of us in Alabama, that have to take the heat almost everyday, we are living it up!

Statistics are for losers.

So you had a few more yards than we did...we had more points.

They simply won't accept we beat them at their own game, in their own house.

They weren't when it counted. End of story.
