Speed option was with an unbalanced line and then option back to the weak side.

I mentioned the irony of that this morning... #whodathunkit

I was cursing like a sailor up until the point when i saw faulk had the seal on the outside and there was minimal or no inside pressure. then i was cursing at the top of my lungs jumping up and down and chest bumping everyone in sight. I hate hate hate that play but glad it worked last night

And we hadn't run option out of the I formation if I remember correctly, it was always out of a one-back set with Ford in there. That time we lined up Hilliard at fullback.

Not sure who line up at fullback, but his block was HUGE. Could have been a no-gainer, turned into a near game winner.

Yes that was a nice subtlety. I think Hilliard's position on that play and with power to the right of the formation made Bama a little "slower" or less compensated on the left edge. Faulk had a nice seal block and Ford used his speed to evade the edge player for Bama, who shed his block. All in all it worked to perfection, well within 1 inch of perfection!
