All knew with such stout D for both teams, field position would be huge factor. Sabah made b.ad choices to attept long FG chances and should have punted and allowed his D to pin us in and get the ball back. had he done it only once, Bama could have moved in for a closer FG attempt and possibly won. Bad decisions from $aban lost the game for Bama.

What would you have done? Punt from the 30? It was too long to go for it each time. No other real choice. The only thing different CNS might have done is try throwing a 5 yrd or so pass to get closer.

Yes, because your punter can barely kick it 30 yards guaranteeing LSU would be pinned deep in it's own territory.

Completely agree, I am tired of hearing they missed 4 FGS, its not like they were 30 yarders. What is the percentage of college kickers making 50 yard FG's. It can't be that good and Saban continued to put those kids out there. In the OT the kid had no shot, but the real reason is LSU's defense, and the penalty and sack in OT. The Bama coaching in OT was the reason the kid even had to try a 50 yarder. Saban decsion to put Maze out there on the punt was another bad choice. Their are three phases to football, offense-defense was a draw, but we won because our special teams were far more superior.

Punted! At least on the ones outside of the 30. That kicker was 1 of 3 coming into the game. Saban got the results he should have expected. Alabama was very well coached last night, but I agree with the OP, Saban blew those FG calls.

tough position for a coach, as that area of the field is kind of a "no man's land"...too short to punt, and too long for a field goal...

Saban was saavy enough to know that points would be tough to come by in this game and that his d could hold us if he gave ust the short field...

so he gambled on the field goals....and he lost...
