Before other trolls come in calling TM7 dirty, take a look. Dumb? Yes. Dirty? No.

not a dirty play at all imo. the thing that sucks about it is that we lost good field position.

Not dirty? I don't know, man. I think if one THEIR guys hit one of OUR guys like that I'd be pissed.

It was like some hybrid clothesline/forearm shiver to the earhole. Not as dirty as maybe a chop block or a groin shot, but there was more than just a hold on that play.

Actually, it's not quite as bad as it seemed last night. He had the guy more around the shoulder area than I originally thought. Holding was probably the correct call.

I will say, though, that most of this board would be bitching to high heaven if the same thing had been done by a Bama player.

My first reaction was he had his arm around Dre's neck and pulled him down. That would be a dirty play.

The video clearly shows he did not. A forearm to the head. Stupid and selfish does not make it dirty.

The purple and gold glasses are killing me. He THREW a forearm close line at the dude. This board is crazy.

yeah, I think the second to last, closer up shot of it shows it nicely. From a distance, you can't tell what TM7 is doing, it looks like he could be clothes-lining him or even jerking his facemask. That closer show shows clearly a quick grab of the dude's shoulder and maybe a little spin or shove. He must have just fallen on it weird. Not dirty at all, just a silly mistake. But, of course, we're gonna have to listen to 10,000 gumps calling for his head, saying he should be banned, etc. And probably just as many of our own fans...

Refs must have been wearing those glasses, too, since they did not call a personal foul.

Fuk bama. They were hitting us late all nite and it was never called. DK was talking shite all night to RR and to JJ each time he hit him. TM7 served him. We got the Swag now boy!

I agree with this - holding, but it's not even a personal foul. He was just a few inches from making a big play - if he had just a little more front, that hit is legal. I originally thought he got the helmet (secondary though, still not a PF), but the illegal contact appears to me to have been with his left hand. He hit him, I believe, legally with the right hand, to the front of the pads. The continuation of the action where he, more or less, made a tackle is what was illegal.

I think like is often the case, they saw then result but not the wind up. The vid from the back CLEARLY shows him cocking his arm backwards to take a shot at the guy. The refs merely noticed the effect of his arm coming around the dude(holding) after he made contact. It was VERY dirty and but you guys keep rationalizing. The kid is a good player but otherwise, he seems a pretty sorry individual.

We can BS ourselfs all day. It was DIRTY as it gets if the table was turned, we would want the ref fired.

I for one thought it was not very smart, but the one thing that really puzzles me is this. Why haven't I watched one media outlet mention this was dirty. Just this board.

Football is a contact sport. Contact is legal to the front of the shoulder pads in almost every circumstance. What was against the rules was the holding.

He seems to be out of control lately. I hope he stays focused and has another "honeybadger" game again.

Sure, Matthieu smacked the dude. But that had nothing to do with the injury. The injury came from the soccer style exaggerated fall to get the ref's attention which caused the guy to end up whipping his head on the field.

I'm surprised this thread is still up. I posted two comments talking about how that hit was dirty and how TM had been jawing all night and got beat multiple teams and needs to tone down the attitude and both posts were whacked. apparently the admins must have gone to bed. or maybe it's because I put UT as my team sign

HB's dumb play should have cost us the game. With any normal punter Alabama would've had the ball on the 50 and maneuvered, perhaps, for a decent shot at a field goal.

HB needs to start thinking on and off the field...
