DCUO is now F2P

Right now playing Ice/2H and enjoying it, but I want to be PvP viable.

Any tips?


I just don't like the very scant amount of powers...ugh. City of Heroes had so many. Fun game so far though.

A good ice tank is hard to take down in PVP (reflect is such a BITCH). Since 2H has a lunge ability, you will be fine (anything with lunge is good for PVP and bow is good for the AE rain of arrows).

Just wish they could get the servers to handle the new load. I got on long enough to do my Vault run and queue up for the Halloween event before the server crashed... again.

While there isn't the vast choice of COX and nothing near Champions, being limited to having 6 loaded on the toolbar makes power choice a lot more important. Once you hit 30, talk to other ice tanks to see what they find the most successful and respec into that.

Also, get as many Feats as possible (every 100 Feat points gives you another point for Skills and any bonuses you unlock in a weapon tree stays with you even if that weapon type is not equipped).

The post-30 progression goes:

-Level 30 solo/faction missions (do these every day until you reach Trusted with each faction, decent loot drops in these runs as well).

-Duos (you can start these at level 30 as well, but you really want to be in at least all blue armor first)

-Tier 1 Alerts (some are easier than others)

-Tier 1 raids (specifically Outer Caverns and Khandaq)

-Tier 1 raids v2 (Brainiac and Inner Sanctum)

Tier 2 Alerts

Tier 2 raids (The two Fortress raids)

If you ever decide you want to spend a little cash to become a Premium member, do so by buying the Green lantern DLC for $10. You get the Hard Light powers (Controller powerset) and 3 really fun Alerts that are T2-ish.

Do you get premium access if you have Station Pass?

I downloaded this last night and am going to start plaing it tonight.

Nice game so far lvl 5 but not one I would have paid for.

I played the beta, and it was pretty awful, IMO.

You mean the Station Access? (~$20/month for access to all SOE games)

That puts you at Legendary. Get the Green Lantern DLC for free, the next DLC is going to be Flash-based and probably include a healing electricity powerset.

The game is currently undergoing growing pains as going F2P has literally brought well over 100,000 NEW folks to the game (per an SOE statement from last week). It's possible to get in, but it can take a while until they implement more fixes (Legendary and Premium accounts will jump to the head of the queue soon).

I've been flying around the PVP phase of Metropolis taking out level 30 griefers camping newb areas. The only lag I had all last night was during my last Legends match (around 10pm Central).

I say this with the caveat that I have yet to go into the PVE Watchtower. That place was already lagtastic due to folks hanging out there BEFORE F2P.
