Nope. They NEVER shot does. The only one of the older guys that ever killed a doe was my great grandpaw on the first doe day ever. He did it just because he could.

No they are squeely horns. Pretty much a bugle made out of an old cow horn. It's what they used to communicate back then.

2 blows meant various things depending on who it was. Usually "I saw a buck" or "are we ready to get the frick out of here yet?"

3 blows meant dead deer

4 blows meant the hunt was over

I loved hearing those things echoing through the swamp in the morning. One of those beautiful sounds that you never forget.

I know what you're talking about, I can hear it from the neighboring club in MS when they run dogs near the outskirts of their lease.

I like the old car in front of the camp. Funny how things have changed. Now everybody has a 4x4 diesel crew cab. We wouldn't be caught dead with a car at the camp.

I love looking at all them old pics. You have them saved somewhere? I remember going through them all on FB about a year ago. Keep posting em.

Hard to believe we thought we were going to lose it all last year.

Those are great man. If any pictures of my great greats exist I haven't seen them. We have a few from when I started hunting/trapping but for the most part the memories are all we have. Keep posting pics, they're amazing..

Not on dry land. Not much of that on our lease. The ones that are shot on dry land usually get wet dragging them back to the boat or camp.

It's been a few years since I've been there but it's amazing how little that camp has changed.
