Just watched Jimbo Fisher on ESPN as he broke down one of FSU's base pass plays

...I'm blown away at what the QB has to know, and recognize pre snap - then progress through during the play depending on what the defense is doing. To all QBs
To JL & JL

That is all.

I think you give these guys too much credit. When you don't know how to drive a streetcar and someone shows you all that is involved in driving one, at first you might be overwhelmed and amazed, but if you spend a little time doing it, you too can drive a streetcar. The average IQ of an NFL quarterback probably isn't much higher than the IQ of the average person. Ever met any of the Mannings? And they're supposed to be geniuses of the game!

I get your point, but I never said QBs were born knowing how to read defenses and run through their progressions. There is a reason they spend more time watching film than they probably do on the field (practices and games combined). Yeah, I'm sure if I spent 10 hours a day studying film, Jimbo's little demonstration would look like a batman coloring book. But as an average Joe that shite blew my mind.

You ever seen the movie "The Program" where the big time LB couldn't pass any of his classes, but when a coach asks him about what defense to run when an offense comes out in a certain set, he rattles off like ten different schemes with blitzes, etc.

I remember guys in school who couldn't pass any of their classes, even with the help of tutors, and their grasp of the English language was tenuous, at best..........yet they could memorize a rap song after hearing it only 4 or 5 times and when they wrote verses or freestyled, you'd think they had the vocabulary of a published poet.

Its all about focus, practice, and what is or isn't important to you.

To emphasize the point you just made... I am certain in the example you used, much more time was spent listening to the rap songs then studying their lessons in their spare time..

Focus and Practice indeed...

This is why LSU Sr QBs > UA QBs
